We all pray that we never have to discharge our firearms in defense of our lives or the lives of someone else. Hell, most of us pray we never even have to draw our firearms. Unfortunately, I’ve had to a couple of times, though you have no idea how thankful I am that I didn’t have to pull the trigger either time. In both cases, I was anything but cool and calm. Not internally, anyway. I had a million thoughts running through my head and my heart was racing. I was scared that everything was…
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson insists that the reason murder is on the rise in his city is Donald Trump’s refusal to spend billions of dollars on “gun violence prevention” programs across the United States, including in the Windy City. The biggest problem with that argument is that Chicago is an outlier, and homicides are down by nearly 20% this year nationwide. Johnson doesn’t want to talk about things like Illinois’ SAFE-T Act, which puts many violent offenders out on the street without having to post any bail, or the law that requires judges to include…
BEIRUT (AP) — Hezbollah’s leader on Saturday criticized a framework agreement that Israel and Lebanon signed a day earlier to end months of conflict between the militant group and Israel, raising concerns about its effectiveness. Lebanon and Israel signed the deal in Washington on Friday without Hezbollah. The agreement links Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon to the Iran-backed militant group’s disarmament, something Hezbollah rejects. Several previous ceasefire agreements that Lebanon has negotiated with Israel since the outbreak of the latest Israel-Hezbollah war were never implemented on the ground. In a statement Saturday, Hezbollah leader Naim Kassem said his group will keep…
WASHINGTON (AP) — A gay rights activist is suing the Department of Defense to answer a simple question: Did Scouting America actually agree to ban transgender members in a deal with the Pentagon? James Dale, who filed a complaint in a New York City federal court Thursday, alleges that both sides have provided conflicting answers, while the Pentagon is refusing to release a copy of its agreement with the organization. The Pentagon made a deal with Scouting America in February that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said would refocus the organization away from diversity initiatives and other “woke” policies. Hegseth threatened…
There was a time, not so long ago, when earning three associate degrees and pursuing a bachelor’s degree seemed like an unreachable dream to Navy veteran Isaiah Franco. After all, his goal of a long career in the military was cruelly snuffed out after he suffered a traumatic brain injury. Franco knew he needed to regroup and find his next passion, but how? As a first-generation college student, he lacked family support and wasn’t sure if he would be able to earn one degree, let alone three. That’s when the Foundation for California Community Colleges (Foundation CCC) stepped in with…

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A tenuous ceasefire appeared to be holding Saturday after the United States struck two Iranian oil tankers, while the country that hosts the U.S. Navy’s regional headquarters said it arrested dozens of people it alleged were linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. Attacks Friday cast doubt on the month-old ceasefire that the United States has insisted is still in effect. Washington is awaiting an Iranian response to its latest proposal for a deal to end the war, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and roll back Tehran’s disputed nuclear program. The U.S. military said Friday that…
In 2020, then 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse found himself in a situation he never should have been thrust into. By that, I don’t blame him, but the rampaging mob that decided to chase a teenager in the middle of a riot. They not only knew he was armed, but one of the mob tried to disarm him during the confrontation, making it clear that Rittenhouse had reason to fear for his life. The reporting of that incident was a journalistic tragedy, though, as many people had very strong opinions as to what happened, all while being very wrong about what…
You get a lot of conveniences when living in a city apartment – proximity to schools, shopping, and services. However, when the power grid fails, look out, you’re in for some challenges. Unlike some homeowners in suburbia, you can’t just break out the generator or avail yourself of a large propane tank. The elevator may not work, the tap water may go dry, and managing sanitation may be an issue. The good news is you can prepare before anything happens. TL;DR: To prepare for a loss of utilities in an apartment, focus on space-saving water storage like a WaterBOB, use…
The U.S. Air Force is undertaking what leaders describe as its most significant overhaul of basic military training in more than seven decades. Maj. Gen. Davidson told Military.com that the effort is designed to fundamentally change how new Airmen think about their role in war. At the center of that transformation is a concept Davidson calls “airmindedness.” A mindset shift, he believes, is essential for the future fight. We had been wrestling with this identity problem for years, Davidson told Military.com. For decades, Air Force Basic Military Training (BMT) at Lackland Air Force Base, TX, has succeeded at producing disciplined…
Serving as a combat medic, which included two deployments to Afghanistan, Sean Wojciechowski served among some of the best soldiers the U.S. Army had to offer. When he left the Army after 11 years, however, Wojciechowski realized that many of the comrades he went to battle with struggled to navigate the legalities of a complex benefits system. Bottom line – Special Operations veterans weren’t getting a fair shake despite all they’ve sacrificed serving in a combat zone. That’s when Wojciechowski decided to become an advocate for fellow veterans. He pursued law school and is currently serving as an Equal Justice…

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup set to draw massive crowds to stadiums across North America in just weeks, security planners are confronting a rapidly evolving aerial threat. Commercial heavy-lift drones, once viewed primarily as agricultural or industrial tools, have demonstrated in global conflicts how quickly they can be repurposed as weapons. In an interview with Military.com, Hylio CEO Arthur Erickson laid out the specific vulnerabilities created by loosely controlled imported systems and the concrete advantages of secure, American-made platforms built with end-to-end control. The Scale of Destruction Possible Erickson did not mince words about the payload reality. If you’ve…

A24’s upcoming Anthony Bourdain movie, Tony, sounds like the rare biopic designed for someone like me. Bourdain was sharp, restless and self-aware, which makes him easy to admire and hard to dramatize. The wrong movie could flatten him into the usual cradle-to-grave prestige drama: childhood wound, early failure, big break, public collapse, closing title cards. Too many biopics move like museum tours with screenplays, making the person less interesting the harder they try to explain them. But Tony looks like it may be taking the smarter route, as you can see in the trailer below. Instead of trying to cover…

This article was originally published by Michael Snyder at The Economic Collapse Blog. January, February, and March were insanely dry. In fact, in all of U.S. history, conditions have never been so dry during the first three months of the year. Just think about that for a moment. Not even during the Dust Bowl days of the 1930s were conditions this dry. Many were hoping that 2026 would be the year when our multi-year drought would finally break. Needless to say, that hasn’t happened. Scientists are telling us that the southwestern U.S. is in the midst of the worst multi-year…
