We all pray that we never have to discharge our firearms in defense of our lives or the lives of someone else. Hell, most of us pray we never even have to draw our firearms. Unfortunately, I’ve had to a couple of times, though you have no idea how thankful I am that I didn’t have to pull the trigger either time. In both cases, I was anything but cool and calm. Not internally, anyway. I had a million thoughts running through my head and my heart was racing. I was scared that everything was…

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson insists that the reason murder is on the rise in his city is Donald Trump’s refusal to spend billions of dollars on “gun violence prevention” programs across the United States, including in the Windy City. The biggest problem with that argument is that Chicago is an outlier, and homicides are down by nearly 20% this year nationwide.  Johnson doesn’t want to talk about things like Illinois’ SAFE-T Act, which puts many violent offenders out on the street without having to post any bail, or the law that requires judges to include…

BEIRUT (AP) — Hezbollah’s leader on Saturday criticized a framework agreement that Israel and Lebanon signed a day earlier to end months of conflict between the militant group and Israel, raising concerns about its effectiveness. Lebanon and Israel signed the deal in Washington on Friday without Hezbollah. The agreement links Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon to the Iran-backed militant group’s disarmament, something Hezbollah rejects. Several previous ceasefire agreements that Lebanon has negotiated with Israel since the outbreak of the latest Israel-Hezbollah war were never implemented on the ground. In a statement Saturday, Hezbollah leader Naim Kassem said his group will keep…

WASHINGTON (AP) — A gay rights activist is suing the Department of Defense to answer a simple question: Did Scouting America actually agree to ban transgender members in a deal with the Pentagon? James Dale, who filed a complaint in a New York City federal court Thursday, alleges that both sides have provided conflicting answers, while the Pentagon is refusing to release a copy of its agreement with the organization. The Pentagon made a deal with Scouting America in February that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said would refocus the organization away from diversity initiatives and other “woke” policies. Hegseth threatened…

The U.S. v. Hemani case is sending shockwaves across the country. The New Jersey Office of Attorney General commented on the opinion when queried about it and it’s — interesting. What a whirlwind couple of weeks in the United States with U.S. Supreme Court opinions flooding the halls of jurisprudence. Naturally, at Bearing Arms we’ve had our eyes cast on two cases ripe for opinions: U.S. v. Hemani and Wolford v. Lopez. The case less controversial to more progressive jurisdictions was Hemani, dealing with so-called “unlawful” users of drugs. No press release came from New Jersey…

Melissa Diana Simmons was contracted by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide care for an elderly Vietnam War veteran. Instead, Simmons and her boyfriend, James Patrick Brown, drained more than $100,000 from the victim’s bank account, forged his checks and left him in a state of physical and mental disarray. On Tuesday, Simmons, 50, from Boones Mill, Va., pleaded guilty to forgery of government checks. Simmons and Brown were both charged in 2025, according to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). ‘Care’ Turns to Fraud Based on evidence obtained by police and court records, Simmons met the victim,…

Starting on July 1, it will be illegal in Colorado to knowingly manufacture or produce “a potentially functioning firearm, unfinished frame or receiver, large-capacity magazine, or rapid-fire device” using a 3D printer… at least for most Coloradans.  There are a couple of exceptions in the new law. A federally licensed firearm manufacturer can still use 3D printers, as can “an instructor or student of an accredited gunsmithing program, or an institution that operates an accredited gunsmithing program.”While Denver Democrat Rep. Lindsay Gilchrist, who sponsored the bill, claimed ““3D-printed guns and gun components are an increasing…

Colorado’s wolf restoration program has signs of growth, and CPW’s newest annual report lays them out plainly. The state now has four recognized wolf packs, four known litters, and a minimum count of 32 wolves at the end of the 2025-2026 biological year. That’s the part wolf restoration supporters will point to first. Wolves are pairing, denning, and producing pups in Colorado, which is exactly what the voter-approved restoration effort was meant to start. The rest of the report is a lot less tidy. CPW also reported a 61% adult survival rate, 10 known wolf mortalities, 43 confirmed livestock depredations,…

Back in my day, prom parties were held at someone’s home, usually the kid with the cool parents who didn’t mind us drinking, or in someone’s barn where the parents could pretend they didn’t even know what was happening. We were not the most well-behaved kids, to be sure, but no one got hurt, and we all had a good time. These days, kids can get a parent to rent an Airbnb or some other short-term rental, and there is no pretense of parental supervision. It doesn’t always work out well. In the Meridian-Kessler neighborhood…

There are a lot of co-op options in open-world games, but just because the option is there, it doesn’t automatically mean the co-op experience makes the overall game better. For example, Donkey Kong Bananza is a 10/10 game, but the co-op option is not a 10/10 experience since the second player cannot do much, but it is a nice option to have. For an open-world game to have good co-op gameplay, there needs to be a better balance. Every player has to come away from the experience gaining something. The following games, including Saints Row: The Third and Elden Ring,…

Sir David Attenborough turned 100 on Friday, May 8, and the birthday tributes came from just about everywhere. Broadcasters, museums, conservation groups, and fans around the world marked the milestone for a man whose career has helped define modern wildlife storytelling. LEGO found a more specific way to join in. Some LEGO Classic sets list an age range of 4–99, including the Large Creative Brick Box. That meant Attenborough, at least technically, has just aged out of the range printed on the box. LEGO marked the occasion with a social post showing the age range updated to 4–100+. The post…

I get that states like New York, and governors like Kathy Hochul aren’t fans of gun ownership in general, but especially when they don’t get to have some kind of control over who gets a gun and who doesn’t. They want to be able to peer into the industry and know everything, which is why anything that removes a gun from that paper trail is a bad thing. For them, 3D printers spell doom, which is why Hochul opted to go after them. But the truth of the matter is that the internet is a…

ROME (AP) — U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged European allies Friday to move beyond rhetoric and take concrete action against Iran, even as he sought to repair strained ties with Italy and the Vatican during a two-day visit following tensions over the U.S.-Israeli war in Iran. Speaking after meetings with Premier Giorgia Meloni and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Rubio warned that Tehran was attempting to assert control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, calling the move “unacceptable” and a threat to global security. “Everybody says Iran is a threat. Everybody says that Iran can’t have a nuclear weapon…
