BEIRUT (AP) — Hezbollah’s leader on Saturday criticized a framework agreement that Israel and Lebanon signed a day earlier to end months of conflict between the militant group and Israel, raising concerns about its effectiveness. Lebanon and Israel signed the deal in Washington on Friday without Hezbollah. The agreement links Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon to the Iran-backed militant group’s disarmament, something Hezbollah rejects. Several previous ceasefire agreements that Lebanon has negotiated with Israel since the outbreak of the latest Israel-Hezbollah war were never implemented on the ground. In a statement Saturday, Hezbollah leader Naim Kassem said his group will keep…
WASHINGTON (AP) — A gay rights activist is suing the Department of Defense to answer a simple question: Did Scouting America actually agree to ban transgender members in a deal with the Pentagon? James Dale, who filed a complaint in a New York City federal court Thursday, alleges that both sides have provided conflicting answers, while the Pentagon is refusing to release a copy of its agreement with the organization. The Pentagon made a deal with Scouting America in February that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said would refocus the organization away from diversity initiatives and other “woke” policies. Hegseth threatened…
The U.S. v. Hemani case is sending shockwaves across the country. The New Jersey Office of Attorney General commented on the opinion when queried about it and it’s — interesting. What a whirlwind couple of weeks in the United States with U.S. Supreme Court opinions flooding the halls of jurisprudence. Naturally, at Bearing Arms we’ve had our eyes cast on two cases ripe for opinions: U.S. v. Hemani and Wolford v. Lopez. The case less controversial to more progressive jurisdictions was Hemani, dealing with so-called “unlawful” users of drugs. No press release came from New Jersey…
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Iran launched a drone assault targeting Bahrain while a ship in the Strait of Hormuz separately came under attack Saturday, likely Tehran’s response to overnight airstrikes by the United States. The attacks across the Persian Gulf show the danger of the Iran war again spinning out of control, even after Iran and the U.S. reached an interim deal to try and agree on a final accord to end the conflict. The U.S. had launched its airstrikes in response to an Iranian drone attack on a ship trying to get out of the strait on…
A 270-foot medium endurance cutter offloaded approximately 7,720 pounds of cocaine and 4,000 pounds of marijuana Friday at Port Everglades in Florida, amounting to more than $63 million in allegedly smuggled drugs. The service said Friday that the seized contraband resulted from three interdictions in international waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean made by Coast Guard Cutter Bear, home-ported in Portsmouth, Va. They reflect a continuation of the service’s efforts to counter drug operations in the Eastern Pacific Ocean, as part of Operation Pacific Viper. As roughly 80% of drug interdictions occur at sea, the Coast Guard works with entities…
The U.S. Virgin Islands don’t seem to consider themselves part of the United States. The reason I say that is that while it’s not a state, but a territory, it makes a lot of gun control moves that ignore the Second Amendment. Granted, a lot of states do so as well, so I probably shouldn’t jump to conclusions. The thing is, the governor there just passed a new gun control law that is, frankly, awful. Hypothetically, it was supposed to help gun owners, but it failed in almost every conceivable way, as Cam noted earlier…

In some ways, it’s never been more exciting to be a gearhead. We have more than a century of automotive history to look back on, and we can hop online and browse the forums and subreddits anytime we run into a maintenance issue we haven’t encountered before. On the other hand, new cars have never been less DIY-friendly, thanks in large part to telematics-gated diagnostics. This is what right-to-repair legislation aims to correct. New Diagnostics Tech Locks Us Out Of Fixing Our Own Cars Credit: 1A Auto: Repair Tips & Secrets Only Mechanics Know/YouTube To start with, let’s define telematics-gated diagnostics.…
A Marine Corps veteran and other advocates are warning that sections contained within major proposed legislation “will cause significant harm” to veterans, students, survivors and families. The criticism is tied to the comprehensive yet somewhat controversial Take Care of America’s Veterans Act (TCAVA) being deliberated in Congress, which has faced pushback correlated with budgeting, benefits, and purported negative repercussions on military service members with conditions including tinnitus and sleep apnea. The TCAVA introduced last week includes more than 60 veterans’ bills, such as the Major Richard Star Act, the Love Lives On Act, caregiver reforms, VA modernization initiatives and combat-injured…

Jonathan Pollard confirmed in Israeli television interviews this week that he is entering Israeli politics ahead of expected elections later this year. Pollard, a former U.S. Navy intelligence analyst convicted of spying for Israel, was arrested in 1985 after passing classified U.S. intelligence to Israel while working as a civilian analyst for the Navy. He pleaded guilty to espionage and in 1987 was sentenced to life in prison after investigators said he transferred a massive volume of classified material involving intelligence methods, military capabilities and surveillance operations. When confronted by investigators, Pollard sought refuge at the Israeli Embassy in Washington…

The Rock Island Armory GI Standard 1911 looks like a no-frills throwback, but this budget .45 turned out to be far more shootable and drama-free than its price tag suggests. After 300 rounds and zero malfunctions, the question is not whether it is cheap. It is whether this plain GI-style pistol might be the smartest low-dollar entry into the 1911 platform. Why the Rock Island GI Standard 1911 Caught My Attention For decades, getting a reliable 1911 pistol was the result of a wizardry mix of hand fitting, creative milling, parts swaps, and magazine selection. Failing that, a good trouble-free…

The Springfield Armory SA-16A2 is not just another retro AR15 trying to cash in on nostalgia. It is a smooth, iron-sighted 5.56 NATO rifle that reminds you why the M16A2 still deserves respect, range time, and a spot on your bucket list. Why the Springfield Armory SA-16A2 Belongs on Your Bucket List You can call the M16A2 a lot of things: retro, nostalgic, out of date. When I think about the M16A2 I think of the U.S. military’s last battle rifle. A rifle that evolved from jungle combat. A rifle in High Power competition that can tag a target at…
