It’s been well documented that the driver-less taxi firm Waymo racked up 600 parking tickets in San Francisco in 2024, totaling more than $65,000 in fines. Now that Waymo is getting ready to operate in Pittsburgh, PA, it has no excuse to repeat that performance. For that matter, anyone who envisions a future where their autonomous car can moonlight as a revenue-generating taxi while you’re hard at work can’t claim plausible deniability for parking tickets. Honestly officer, I wasn’t driving the car! But we aren’t sure the solution is much better. Two Pittsburgh-based startups, Meter Feeder and Mapless AI, have…
The damage to the United States economy because of relentless wars and inflation is becoming more obvious. Spirit Airlines has announced that it is going out of business and ceasing all operations, effective immediately. Failed government bailout negotiations were also to blame. The Trump administration considered a $500 million bailout but did not reach a deal, according to Duffy, who said the government is a lender of last resort. President Trump floated the idea after Spirit entered bankruptcy for the second time in less than two years, driven partly by rising jet fuel costs linked to the conflict in Iran,…
In 2025, Senator Mike Lee, a Republican from Utah, proposed selling off 3 million acres of public land from 11 Western states. The move sparked widespread backlash from Democratic colleagues, outdoor enthusiasts, and conservation groups. The effort ultimately failed, but the memory of that almost sale lingered in the mind of Colorado Senator Michael Bennet. And now he’s taking action to prevent any similar plans in the future, with a new bill that would make public land sell-offs harder to pass. What the Bill Does On April 30, Bennet, a Democrat, introduced the Public Lands Integrity Act to the Senate.…
The Annunciation Catholic School shooting was terrible, but it could have been much worse. While 26 people were injured, most of them children, the fact that only two died is kind of amazing, in a way. You’d think the death toll would have been much worse, but I’m thankful it wasn’t. I just wish it weren’t as high as it is. But as Minnesota continues to debate gun control, the arguments continue to be bandied about, and I get where some people are coming from on this. They either had children injured or traumatized by…
A therapist with deep ties to the military community, this is Dr. Emma Smith’s final monthly advice column for Military.com. I’ve sat down to write this column several times, and each time I’ve found myself unable to do what I’ve always done here: translate complexity into something usable or hopeful. For me, this space has always been about that. About naming what often goes unspoken in military life. The invisible labor. The strategic and often geographic calculations. The emotional terrain that doesn’t make it into briefings or homecoming photos. And the fact that our grit and resilience allow us to…
Pennsylvania hunters could get a limited path to hunt deer over bait, but this isn’t a statewide green light to dump corn below your treestand. House Bill 2440, introduced April 27 by Rep. Thomas Mehaffie, would amend Title 34 of Pennsylvania law and allow licensed hunters to use bait for deer on private property in areas designated by the Pennsylvania Game Commission. The bill would apply only under commission regulations, which means hunters wouldn’t get broad permission to bait deer wherever they choose. The bill is now in the House Game and Fisheries Committee, which has a voting meeting scheduled…
Dörte Pietron and Daniel Gebel were not having great luck on their trip through Madagascar. The climbing routes they were finding were poorly maintained, and had crumbling rock and corroded bolts. Then, the two Patagonia ambassador climbers found Lalan’i Mpanjaka. Malagasy for “the King Line,” this 11-pitch route is nearly 2,000 vertical feet of highly technical trad climbing. The bolts were fresh. The sharp granite rock was solid and grippy. And the two climbers fell in love with the route. But to reach the top, they had to pull out almost every trick in the book. They pushed themselves, spending…
The Supreme Court once again took no action on five cert petitions challenging bans on so-called assault weapons and large capacity magazines on Monday, and will likely schedule the cases for the Court’s next conference. The lawsuits, which involve challenges to California and Washington’s magazine bans as well as “assault weapon” prohibitions in Cook County, Illinois and the state of Connecticut, have been discussed in conference for months now. The speculation is that the Court is waiting for a ruling from the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol…
Thanks to the collaboration of two veterans’ organizations, a family in California received a Purple Heart that their uncle earned more than eight decades ago. Working with the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) and the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet), was able to deliver a Purple Heart to the family of World War II veteran John Van Doorne, killed in action while serving in Europe in 1944. “The MVAA is honored to have played a role in returning this Purple Heart to the veteran’s family,” said MVAA director Terry J. Sabo in a press release. “This return wouldn’t have…
The Ruger LCP Max takes the old pocket .380 formula and finally makes it feel modern. For California buyers especially, this little pistol delivers real sights, real capacity, real concealability, and a price tag that makes it awfully hard to dismiss. Ruger is well known for making solid firearms with value in mind. Their guns do not break the bank, yet they are also known for reliability. They have long had the reputation that while they may not be pretty or fancy, they get the job done. In 2008, Ruger jumped into the concealed carry market in a big way…

What does compromise get us when it comes to gun rights? At best, we lose a little less than we might otherwise have, but since the anti-gunners will never let that sit and will be back for the rest later, it’s not really much of a win, now is it? At worst, what we get is still more encroachment on our right to keep and bear arms that increases over time until there’s nothing left. That’s why so many gun rights groups describe themselves as “no compromise.”But it seems that the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners are in…

Your weekly digest of ammunition reviews, reloading gear, and ammo legislation from The Truth About Guns. Reviews & Field Tests Liberty Ammunition’s 9mm Overwatch Load: 72-Grain Bullet, Max Velocity March 3, 2026 · By Mike Hardesty Liberty Ammunition’s Overwatch 9mm takes the light-and-fast philosophy to an extreme: a 72-grain machined copper bullet pushed to velocities that leave conventional defensive loads well behind. TTAG’s Mike Hardesty put it through its paces, testing accuracy, penetration, and real-world defensive performance. The review digs into the two competing schools of thought on defensive ammo design—heavy-and-slow vs. light-and-fast—and where the Overwatch fits in. Liberty, based…
The life cycle of a “red flag” law generally looks something like this:- The law is proposed, with supporters arguing that it will be rarely used and only in those circumstances where law enforcement (and perhaps family members) know that someone’s gun ownership poses a danger to themselves or others. – The law is implemented, and is, in fact rarely used.- Those same supporters argue that the law isn’t being used enough, so the pool of eligible petitioners needs to be expanded to include teachers, employers, mental health professionals, prosecutors, dating partners, roommates, etc. When that…

While the current threat to our gun rights from the federal government is minimal, it was just a couple of years ago when we had to worry about all sorts of things. President Autopen was a big fan of gun control, and if he’d gotten his way, we’d just be left with nothing but double-barreled shotguns to shoot at bad guys through the door. As a result, some pro-gun states started looking at ways to protect the gun rights of the people who live there. Missouri led the charge, and while that law ran into…
This article was originally published by Lance D Johnson at Natural News. The United States, in lockstep with Israel, has ignited a direct military conflict with Iran, a move that has triggered an aggressive and catastrophic retaliation, which is currently justifying a sweeping expansion of war. The U.S. targeting Iranian leadership and sinking an Iranian frigate in international waters has elicited blood-curdling vows of revenge from Tehran’s highest clerical authorities. Key points: Senior Iranian Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli has explicitly called for the “shedding of Trump’s blood” in a televised address, signaling a shift to personal, existential threats. Iran has…
We live in a Golden Age of shortcuts. Want to lose weight? Take Ozempic. Want to gain muscle mass? Just take steroids. For almost anything we want to do, there’s someone offering a quicker and easier way to do it than the old-fashioned way of putting in the work. That includes shooting, apparently. The New York Post reports that a woman named Zoë Lescaze went from never holding a gun to becoming an expert marksman in just three days, with the help of neuro-linguistic programming, which the Post describes as “a radical form of hypnotherapy…
