There are a lot of times when we’re told we have to submit fingerprints. I had to do it when applying for my carry permit here in Georgia, for example, and that’s still the rule, though constitutional carry makes it a little less of a pain for most people. For NFA items like suppressors or machine guns, you’ve long had to submit fingerprints with your application. I always figured it was to make sure you were really you and not some felon pretending to be you, though it’s not like bad guys routinely send paperwork…
The American flag has always meant different things to different people. For many, it’s a symbol of freedom, military service, family, and the country they love. For others, it can stir up more complicated emotions tied to America’s past and present. That debate erupted this week after The View co-host Sunny Hostin said neighborhoods filled with American flags make her feel “unsafe” following a discussion about a recent white nationalist march in Washington, D.C. The Hill covered the exchange, which quickly lit up social media and drew criticism from Republican lawmakers. “There are times when I walk into a community…
Amid the fallout from PlayStation’s announcement that it will halt physical disc manufacturing in 2028, SEC filings reveal that Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki sold over half of his stock shortly after the news broke. Some fans have been vocally opposed to Sony stopping physical disc production, and they have canceled their PS Plus subscriptions in response and in hopes that the company listens. PlayStation’s announcement that it would go digital-only as of 2028 has sent shockwaves through the gaming industry. While digital sales account for the majority of games sold, there are still physical media enthusiasts who hold out for…
Healthcare workers on the frontlines of the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have begun an unofficial strike. Those on strike say that they are working in poor conditions with inadequate safety equipment and low wages. As of today, an X post by BNO News reported that 1,729 Ebola cases and 582 deaths have occurred in the DRC and Uganda, where the Bundibugyo strain of the virus is spreading in an already chaotic region gripped by conflict and mass migration. Government officials in Ituri said the missing payments are because of the broader implications of the outbreak.…
Eat My Brains: The name of a legendary rock slab in the trail network of Rossland, British Columbia. It starts with a narrow, loose talus entrance into a 30-foot rock roll, down a naturally rusted gold-and-copper iron hat. Essentially, those minerals are embedded in a volcanic sedimentary ore that originally attracted prospectors to Monte Christo in the 1890s. As I entered the loose talus, the bike slightly lurched forward as the motor engaged in Turbo, making the technical entrance that much more difficult. I gently tapped the brakes and controlled the bike. I stabilized and composed myself as I rolled…
It’s amazing how many journalists still claim there’s no inherent bias in the media, while every publication of any community above a few thousand seems to have an anti-gun editorial board. I’m not talking about the odd op-ed, because those are the opinions of individuals that may or may not reflect the publication’s management’s views. The editorial board is a clearer representation of those views, though. The Las Vegas Sun’s board, for example, just published an editorial where they try to claim that President Trump’s focus on law and order rings hollow for them because he’s…
Gun Owners of America and Gun Owners Foundation are suing the state of Pennsylvania over a bizarre statute that prohibits anyone convicted of any violation of the state’s Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act from obtaining a license to carry a firearm, even if the offense was a misdemeanor that doesn’t prohibit them from purchasing or possessing a firearm in the home. The statute applies even to those convicted of non-violent drug offenses like possessing a small amount of a controlled substance, and the prohibition is permanent, which means a conviction for possessing a…

As some have scrutinized the comprehensive Take Care of America’s Veterans Act and called for sections to be modified or removed altogether, nearly two dozen veterans service organizations are “urging” Congress to move swiftly and enact the legislation as written. U.S. House and Senate lawmakers continue to debate the TCAVA and its more than 60 bill provisions that include the Major Richard Star Act, the Love Lives On Act, caregiver program reforms, Department of Veterans Affairs modernization initiatives and combat-injured veteran expansions. Drafted legislation also includes proposals to strengthen mental health support, improve spinal cord injury care and prosthetic services,…

A permanent change of station move, or PCS move, isn’t a one-time expense. It’s a major event that can stretch across two or three months, and even experienced military families routinely underestimate the costs. The good news is that PCS spending can be more predictable if you know what to plan for. Here’s how to build a budget that your family can use during the PCS season. How Much Does a Typical PCS Move Cost? The total cost of a PCS move varies significantly based on your family size, rank, distance and moving logistics. On average, military families spend between…
All jobs in the military carry real risks, but some jobs are much riskier than others. Here are 10 of the most dangerous: 1. Pararescue U.S. Air Force pararescuemen and a simulated ‘survivor’ watch as an HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter comes in for a landing. (Petty Officer 2nd Class Scott Taylor/U.S. Air Force photo) Pararescue jumpers are basically the world’s best ambulance service. They fly, climb and march to battlefields, catastrophic weather areas and disaster zones to save wounded and isolated people during firefights or other emergencies. 2. Special Operations While this is lumping a few separate jobs together, troops…
