I don’t like identity politics. I don’t think the world should be viewed through the lens of people being seen not as individuals, but as groups they have some kind of affiliation with in a single regard. The left has made this a central part of its beliefs and expects the rest of us to fall in line. Straight white men are the last legitimate target of bigotry. Well, besides the Jews, apparently.Since the October 7th attacks by Hamas on Israel, we’ve seen a lot of antisemitism. I’ve written an awful lot about how many…
In the Army hierarchy, commissioned officer ranks are structured into three tiers: company grade, field grade and general. Company grade officers, designated in the ranks of O-1 to O-3, form the initial tier. Field grade officers, encompassing pay grades O-4 to O-6, make up the middle level of leadership. General officers are categorized in the pay grades O-7 and above. Commissioned officers, the highest of the Army ranks, wield presidential commissions and undergo Senate confirmation for their respective ranks. Army Officer Ranks and Their Insignia Second Lieutenant (2LT) (O-1) Addressed as “lieutenant” or “second lieutenant.” Typically the entry-level rank for…
Cornell University has added a new rule to its Community Living Standards for the 2026-27 school year: Students can’t process wild game in communal residence hall kitchens. The policy is only one sentence long, but it doesn’t leave much room for creative interpretation. “Processing wild/game animals in community kitchens is strictly prohibited,” the updated standards state. Cornell confirmed the addition was prompted by an incident last September, when two students brought a legally killed black bear into a North Campus residence hall and butchered it in the communal kitchen. Montgomery County, Maryland officials are facing three separate legal challenges over several newly-enacted “gun-free zones,” including parks and houses of worship. Now the county’s chief executive has weighed in with his take on the lawsuits filed by the New Civil Liberties Alliance and the Department of Justice. Marc Elrich told reporters on Wednesday that the county will defend its restrictions on lawful carry, and had some choice words for those who are trying to get rid of the victim disarmament zones. “We’re just not going to surrender,” Elrich said. “If we get to a legal point…
Congratulations, you’re having a baby! Babies are amazing, but it’s incredible how much gear comes along with such a tiny person. If you’ve ever packed for a PCS, you already know how quickly stuff adds up. Babies somehow manage to double it. Don’t let me discourage you; children are amazing, and I couldn’t imagine my life without them. The gear changes as they grow, but somehow the amount of stuff never gets smaller. It’s easy to fall down the rabbit hole of Pinterest and Instagram and start planning a perfectly matched nursery. The baby gear available today is incredible. I…
A successful deer season doesn’t start when you climb into the stand. It begins months prior, with intel you can gather and animal habits you can help create. The payoff from that initial effort has made trail cameras (also called game cameras) and deer feeders into inseparable tools for dedicated hunters. A trail camera is a weatherproof, motion-triggered camera mounted on a tree or post that turns guesswork into data, showing you exactly when and where deer are moving so you’re not burning time in the wrong spot. Pair that with a feeder, and you’re not just watching deer activity;…
New Jersey is set to get its very first dedicated veteran advocate. Democratic Gov. Mikie Sherrill nominated Michael Embrich, a U.S. Navy veteran who served in Iraq, to lead a newly created position within the Office of the Veteran Advocate. The New Jersey Legislature created the office in 2025 to serve as an independent voice for The Garden State’s veteran community. Embrich served during both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, and is a former policy advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs. He served aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt and received the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit…
The gun laws in Massachusetts are a legal labyrinth that seems designed to impede the right to keep and bear arms at every turn. In addition to banning many popular semi-automatic long guns, the state’s “Approved Firearms Roster” also prohibits the sale of common handguns unless they have (among other things) “safety features” like loaded chamber indicators and magazine disconnects (though makes and models that were offered for sale before the roster came into existence in the late 90s are typically grandfathered in). Firearms Policy Coalition and several individual plaintiffs are challenging the Firearms…
There’s an old saying that common sense isn’t so common anymore. Whether that’s true probably depends on who you ask. But every so often a story comes along that makes just about everyone scratch their head. The latest comes out of Georgia, where an 8-year-old special needs student was suspended after bringing what school officials reportedly classified as a “weapon” to school. The weapon? According to NRA-ILA’s write-up, it was a tiny LEGO keychain built from a handful of plastic bricks that happened to resemble a pistol. If your first thought was, “Wait… seriously?” you’re not alone. When Does a…
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — U.S. and Iranian leaders traded further threats on Saturday as the interim deal to end the war buckles under repeated crossfire in the Middle East. President Donald Trump upped threats of further missile attacks against Iran in a string of comments on his Truth Social that came after senior U.S. officials demanded that Iran make a public statement saying the Strait of Hormuz is open and that ships crossing the vital corridor won’t be attacked. Trump also made the comments after the funeral of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei saw open calls for the…

There’s no doubt that the mainstream media has a profound anti-gun bias. We know it, and we can see it, but it’s not as obvious to a lot of people who don’t delve as deeply into Second Amendment topics as most of us do. That’s because it’s rarely as obvious as “gun control is awesome and only terrible people support it,” unless it’s a quote from someone else. That allows the so-called journalist to pretend they said no such thing; they were only quoting an individual. And even that is rare, in part because the…
