One of the biggest hurdles to overcome when transitioning from a military to civilian career is the idea of self-promotion. When is it too much? When is it arrogance? A United States Department of Agriculture facility has opened up to combat the New World screwworm parasite infecting animals in Mexico and the US. The facility will produce millions of sterile flies to combat the screwworm. The USDA invested about $21 million to renovate and convert an existing fruit fly facility in Metapa, Mexico. After nearly 30 years as a grisly landmark on the North Side of Everest, the body known as “Green Boots” is the target of a recovery effort by Indian authorities. The Indo–Tibetan Border Police has issued a call for experienced high-altitude teams to bring down the remains. More than $100,000 has been raised by hundreds of donors for a Navy employee who was attacked by a shark earlier this month and remains hospitalized with serious but undisclosed injuries.
