Second Amendment advocates have won an important victory in federal court, with a judge in Texas ruling in favor of the plaintiffs in a case challenging the registration requirements on National Firearms Act items that have had their taxes zeroed out by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.  In his decision, U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix agreed with the plaintiffs in two consolidated lawsuits that the NFA’s regulatory provisions for untaxed firearms exceed Congress’s Article I enumerated powers. Utah’s Eagle Point Ski Resort suffered devastating losses in this summer’s Cottonwood Fire. As a result, the ski area announced the difficult decision to forego operations for the upcoming 2026-2027 winter season. The resort saw approximately 300 of its 600 acres burn in the fire that began June 22 and scorched nearly 100,000 acres in total throughout Utah. Four of Eagle Point’s chairlifts were destroyed, as well as the Canyonside Lodge.
