The Profit Machine: The S&P’s True Margin King Listen up, because the mainstream financial media is feeding you garbage while the smart money is orchestrating the trade of the century. We are standing at the epicenter of a historic valuation dislocation. While the herd is chasing tech stocks at nosebleed valuations, gold mining equities are trading at their cheapest levels in over 50 years! Let that sink in. Gold has broken out into uncharted territory, yet the producers of the metal are priced as if we are in a multi-decade depression. This is the definition of a generational mispricing—and the…

Most avid shooters know who Jerry Miculek is. They also know who his daughter Lena is. She’s a fantastic shooter who, frankly, can kick the crap out of most of us on the range, and I don’t feel the least bit bad about it. I’m pretty sure the Miculeks are really terminators or something, anyway. But Lena, like most people, doesn’t always want to wear tacticool clothing. That means, for her, dresses. It also means that for a lot of other women. So, she decided to share some advice with the other ladies out there —…

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — For decades, the United States and South Korea have regularly staged military drills to prepare their soldiers to work together smoothly in the event of a crisis or conflict with North Korea. But this year’s Ulchi Freedom Shield exercise, one of the two main drills conducted by the allies annually, could be disrupted after U.S. President Donald Trump ordered his Pentagon chief to “substantially” scale it back just before its start Monday. He cited what he said was a good relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korea’s refusal to join the…

The officials said the Trump administration has told Oman it is opposed to parts of the yet-to-be-announced deal, including the joint Iranian and Omani management of the exit route out of the passage that’s critical to global supplies of oil and natural gas. The officials were briefed on the U.S. position and how the administration…

I’d really rather not talk about another deadly shooting at a school, but if I have to, I’d prefer it not to be in the United States. I’d say I was in “luck” this morning, quotes and all, if it didn’t turn my stomach just thinking about being that flippant, and if you guys have read my stuff for a while, that should be a tad impressive. Flippant and snarky are my brand, after all.But these are kids, for crying out loud, and while these might not be American kids, that doesn’t actually matter.A high…

The Marine Corps has awarded a $19 million contract for 10 Tempest counter-drone vehicles that are deliberately built to shoot and then leave. The system fires AGM-114L Longbow Hellfire missiles at Class 2 and Class 3 drones, then withdraws while the missiles are still in flight so the crew spends as little time as possible in the kill zone. A Pentagon contract announcement dated August 11 confirmed the award to Vertex Modernization and Sustainment, a V2X company based in Indianapolis. The deal covers the vehicles plus software, spare parts, training, and support services. Work is scheduled to run through August…

The Pentagon has given major defense contractors 21 days to submit plans showing that they can produce and deliver critical weapons systems at a much higher pace, as recent combat operations around the globe have severely dwindled some stockpiles. Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg issued the directive in an Aug. 5 memo to industry leaders. The memo calls for companies to propose an uptick in production for such weapons systems deemed critical. “Years-long development cycles are not acceptable,” Feinberg wrote. “We must dramatically accelerate our program schedules and expand our production capacity now.” The memo was directed toward major defense…

Veterans owned about 1.6 million U.S. businesses in 2023, generating roughly $1 trillion in receipts. But their share of American business ownership has been shrinking as older veteran entrepreneurs retire and fewer younger veterans replace them. A free New York University program accepting applications this month is aimed at veterans and military spouses trying to enter that pipeline. NYU Tandon School of Engineering has opened applications for VET-1, a six-session online entrepreneurship course for people who are new to business ownership. The evening program begins Sept. 8, requires no previous business experience and is free to participants. Applications are due…
