Most avid shooters know who Jerry Miculek is. They also know who his daughter Lena is. She’s a fantastic shooter who, frankly, can kick the crap out of most of us on the range, and I don’t feel the least bit bad about it. I’m pretty sure the Miculeks are really terminators or something, anyway. But Lena, like most people, doesn’t always want to wear tacticool clothing. That means, for her, dresses. It also means that for a lot of other women. So, she decided to share some advice with the other ladies out there —…

A Chinese man has been sentenced to six months in jail after he photographed Whiteman Air Force Base. Whiteman Air Force Base, located in Missouri, is a vital military installation under the Air Force Global Strike Command. It is the exclusive operational home for the nation’s entire fleet of B-2 Spirit nuclear-capable stealth bombers and supports a community of approximately 10,000 to 12,600 people. Qilin Wu drove a vehicle to the base on Dec. 2, 2025, telling members of the 509th Security Forces Squadron that he had come to observe the B-2, an American heavy strategic stealth bomber, the U.S.…

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — For decades, the United States and South Korea have regularly staged military drills to prepare their soldiers to work together smoothly in the event of a crisis or conflict with North Korea. But this year’s Ulchi Freedom Shield exercise, one of the two main drills conducted by the allies annually, could be disrupted after U.S. President Donald Trump ordered his Pentagon chief to “substantially” scale it back just before its start Monday. He cited what he said was a good relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korea’s refusal to join the…

CAIRO (AP) — U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to bomb Oman because he is unhappy the country is close to a deal with Iran to manage ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, two regional officials said Tuesday, a day after Trump leveled the threat. The officials said the Trump administration has told Oman it is opposed to parts of the yet-to-be-announced deal, including the joint Iranian and Omani management of the exit route out of the passage that’s critical to global supplies of oil and natural gas. The officials were briefed on the U.S. position and how the administration…

I’d really rather not talk about another deadly shooting at a school, but if I have to, I’d prefer it not to be in the United States. I’d say I was in “luck” this morning, quotes and all, if it didn’t turn my stomach just thinking about being that flippant, and if you guys have read my stuff for a while, that should be a tad impressive. Flippant and snarky are my brand, after all.But these are kids, for crying out loud, and while these might not be American kids, that doesn’t actually matter.A high…

The Department of Defense (DOD) has launched a new research program to develop treatments for traumatic brain injuries (TBI). A new program called Selective Harnessing of Intrinsic Neuroplasticity Engineering (SHINE) is pushing through the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the research arm of the DOD, developing non-invasive tools to “enhance the brain’s ability to adapt and rewire itself” when it is injured. Between 2001 and 2025, roughly 556,502 veterans screened positive for TBI or a TBI-related diagnosis in VA medical records, or filed claims for VA disability compensation. The condition, which occurs when a sudden blow to the head…

Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness returned to Paramount+ for a third season Aug. 2 with Zoe Saldaña’s CIA officer Joe McNamara leading another covert mission. The Paramount series is based on a real U.S. military program, although its fictional operatives bear little resemblance to the women who carried the Lioness name in Iraq. Those Lionesses included Army mechanics, clerks, engineers and other support soldiers, as well as female Marines pulled from specialties across the Corps. They were given a job commanders had not originally planned for. Zoe Saldaña as Joe in Lioness season 3, streaming on Paramount+, 2026. Photo Credit: Lauren “Lo”…

Americans have built an enormous nonprofit infrastructure around the men and women who served in the military. There are organizations helping veterans find jobs, navigate benefits, improve their physical and mental health, reconnect with their communities, pursue education, overcome homelessness and make the transition from military to civilian life. More than 40,000 veteran-focused nonprofits have operated across that landscape, according to previous research cited by Time. Yet the sheer number of organizations, and the billions of dollars that flow through the broader veteran-support ecosystem, raises a deceptively simple question: How do we know which programs actually work? For many veteran…

Imagine the grid going down for weeks or even months. No cell service, no internet, no quick lookup when you need to know how to treat a serious wound, preserve food without power, or fix a broken tool. In a long-term disaster, knowledge is just as valuable as anything in your survival kit. Wikipedia is one of the largest collections of practical information ever assembled. It covers medicine and first aid, water treatment, gardening, food preservation, mechanics, chemistry, history, and nearly every other subject you can think of. The problem is that it normally lives online. If the internet goes…

We’re hitting record lows for violent crime. We’re safer than we’ve probably ever been in this country, and this is despite a lot of reasons why we probably shouldn’t be. Income disparity, racial tension, political upheaval, and anti-police animosity all would seem to create a recipe for violence, and while it has to some extent, it’s not spilling over into people’s everyday lives. As Cam noted earlier this week, some are expecting the drop to be even greater for 2026.In addition to what I noted above, something else to consider is that anti-gunners claimed that…

The top U.S. military commander in the Middle East visited the long-deployed USS Lincoln in the Arabian Sea during a regional tour that ended on Saturday, the U.S. Central Command said. A Hamas delegation and, separately, U.S. negotiator Jared Kushner were in Egypt for Gaza ceasefire-related talks with Egyptian officials. And the 60-day negotiating period that began with the June 17 signing of an interim agreement between the U.S. and Iran is set to end with no word of an extension. Here’s a look at the latest developments on Sunday in the Iran war and the wider Middle East. Full…

I’m a woodworker, and something that I always hear in that field is that you can never have enough clamps. Likewise, I’m pretty sure you can never have enough holsters, particularly if you want the optimal one for each gun and purpose. An inside-the-waistband holster for concealed carry is dope for everyday use, but it might not fit every gun you’re going to carry. Sometimes, carrying openly is what you want, which is a different holster entirely. And even if they’re not everyone’s cup of tea, some of us grew up watching enough cop shows…

According to a recent survey from the Federal Reserve, nearly 40 percent of Americans would have trouble paying for an unexpected expense of $400 or more with cash. Another recent survey from a company called Omnisend found that about 30 percent of Americans are paying for essentials like groceries and gas with credit cards, knowing that they may not be able to pay off their bill.  “Affordability” has become the buzzword of the 2026 campaign cycle, as more and more of us are feeling the pinch. But while most politicians are at least paying lip…
