Perhaps my favorite fiction author is Larry Correia. His Monster Hunter International series is incredible, though the Grimnoir series is my favorite. He’s done others, and one that I think a lot of people sleep on is the novel he did with John D. Brown called “Gun Runner.” It’s a science fiction work that, frankly, I enjoyed so much. While I’m hoping we get a second book there, it seems there’s something else in the works in that universe.A Kickstarter for a graphic novel version of the book. The 2021 Dragon Award-winning military science fiction novel…

Gun owners (or most of them, anyway) are rightfully delighted with U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix’s decision that much of the National Firearms Act has been rendered moot now that the making and transfer taxes on suppressors, short-barreled firearms, and “any other weapons” have been zeroed out by Congress in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.  As Reason’s Jacob Sullum writes in his latest syndicated column, though, even folks who have no plans to purchase a suppressor or short-barreled rifle in the future should be pleased by how Hendrix reached his decision. Hendrix didn’t decide…

I keep trying to keep myself calm regarding the court’s decision on the NFA registry requirement for suppressors and short-barreled long guns. I want it to mean the end of the NFA requirements entirely, and while they’re gone for now, there’s no guarantee they won’t return down the road. I want to temper my expectations. Still gonna SBR my home defense rifle and put a can on it, though. However, it’s always possible that an appeal will come. That’s not stopping Giffords from absolutely losing its mind over it.Trump’s Justice Department just failed to defend nearly 100…

PHOENIX (AP) — All eyes were on Navajo Code Talker Thomas H. Begay. The 101-year-old veteran saluted while the national anthem played on Friday, kicking off a day of recognition honoring him and the other Navajo recruits who famously used their native language to keep military secrets during World War II. Begay, one of the last two living Code Talkers, made the long trip from his home on the Navajo Nation to the Arizona State Capitol for the event. He was joined by family members and dozens of descendants of other Code Talkers. “I am so damn proud,” said Begay,…

The United States once planned to drop more than 1,000 bomb-carrying bats over Japanese cities. A psychologist taught pigeons to guide missiles. Cold War troops were issued a recoilless weapon capable of launching a nuclear warhead. British engineers built a giant pair of rocket-powered wheels stuffed with explosives and expected the contraption to drive itself up a beach. These weren’t concepts that lived only on paper. Every weapon on this list reached at least the prototype or testing stage. Several entered military service, and some were used in combat. Here are 15 of the strangest weapons military engineers actually built.…

New Orleans police have arrested four teens, three of them juveniles, for a string of carjackings in the Crescent City. According to authorities, two of the suspects, including 19-year-old Ja’Maarion Banks, were already on electronic monitoring for previous offenses when they were taken into custody this week.  Banks, along with several unidentified juveniles aged 16, 14, and 14, were arrested after police developed enough evidence to secure a warrant. It sounds like the fact that they were wearing monitors may have helped police track them down, though the devices apparently didn’t have much of a…

ABOARD THE RFA LYME BAY (AP) — Aboard the RFA Lyme Bay docked off the coast of Gibraltar, hundreds of British sailors are waiting to be deployed for a mine-clearing mission to the Strait of Hormuz that is still in doubt. U.S. President Donald Trump has lashed out at allies for not doing more to support the United States’ war effort in Iran, whose chokehold on the strait has crippled international shipping and sent energy prices soaring. In March, Trump told NATO allies to “go get your own oil” and secure the strait themselves. On the southern tip of the…

Pre-packaged freeze-dried meals are convenient, but they’re also very expensive. Plus, they’re usually loaded with sodium and full of artificial ingredients. Fortunately, you don’t have to rely on them. With a home freeze dryer, you can preserve your own homemade meals. I won’t lie. A home freeze dryer is a significant investment, but once you have one, you can freeze dry anything you want, exactly the way you like it, with ingredients you trust, at a fraction of the cost. With the drop in homicides throughout the nation, a drop that was historic in its magnitude, it’s unsurprising to see a bunch of people trying to claim their preferred policies played a role. I’m not immune to that, either, because as a pro-gun guy, I’d love to say definitively that the restoration of gun rights was the driving cause of the unprecedented drop. The problem is that we simply can’t make a blanket statement about why it happened, in part because it wasn’t just one factor, and I’m honest enough to try and stop myself…

Operation Hathor is the sort of story that sounds made up until you realize it is not. Two SAS troopers got snatched by the wrong people in Basra, and the British response involved armor, airborne surveillance, righteous fury, and all the subtlety of a bar fight with tanks. British SAS Mythos, Real Men, and the Sort of Friends You Want Nearby I’ve only known one member of the British 22d SAS well. Mike was a great bloke. He looked like a bulldog–short and stocky. Like all soldiers who operate in those rarefied spaces, he was also preternaturally calm. Not much…

The gun control lobby has done a pretty good job of masking its true intentions behind a veneer of “gun safety.” Even though advocates like Gabby Giffords have proclaimed at times that the goal is “no more guns,” folks like Brady’s Kris Brown regularly claim that they’re not opposed to gun ownership but are just in favor of a few “reasonable, common sense gun regulations.”  Every now and then, though, an anti-2A activist tells the truth about what they’re really after. I have to thank Californian Seth Sandronsky for his candor at the lefty website…
