Civil unrest in Iran. And the reported arrests of people allegedly building homemade firearms offers a stark reminder of what happens when an authoritarian government loses its grip, according to the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA). According to Reuters, Iranian authorities have detained an unspecified number of individuals accused of manufacturing improvised pistols as protests spread across the country. Multiple reports indicate that demonstrators have been killed as security forces attempt to suppress growing resistance to the regime. CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb said the situation reflects a familiar historical pattern: when governments disarm their…
The United States is continually upping the ante, escalating already tight tensions in several regions of the world. Now, the military has attempted to board a Russian-flagged oil tanker in the North Atlantic. UPDATE: Since the original writing of this article, U.S. European Command (EUCOM) confirmed on X that the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security, in coordination with the Department of Defense, seized the Russian-flagged oil tanker Marinera (formerly Bella 1) for violating U.S. sanctions. The Russian media outlet RT News has posted footage that appears to show U.S. military forces attempting to board the Russian-flagged tanker Marinera early Wednesday…
The death of TikTok was exaggerated, and it continues to grow (under American ownership, now) beyond its dance-clip roots. Preppers are everywhere, and one of the main hallmarks of preparedness is information sharing, so it makes sense that TikTok has become a platform with thousands of preppers sharing videos. Some creators promote preparedness products, others share practical prepping advice, and even more do both. There are preppers out there sharing videos with their tens of followers, but the best accounts are resonating with hundreds of thousands. We’ll share more about TikTok preppers and the top 10 accounts to follow below. Contents…
There’s no telling where you’ll find cryptocurrency these days. I spent some of my winter break hiking near the small town of Brevard, N.C., where I was surprised to see a Bitcoin ATM advertised on the sign of a gas station that looked like it was built in the 1960s. A quick Google search shows about a half dozen such ATMs in this popular tourist town with a population under 8,000. Well, MyWhoosh seems hip to the crypto-scene as well, since the virtual cycling app just announced a monthly treasure hunt offering Bitcoin — or at least, pieces of a…
Over the past few years, a number of Democrat-controlled states have instituted “lost or stolen” laws that require gun owners to report the loss or theft of a firearm to police within a mandated time period (typically 24 to 48 hours) or else face charges of their own. These laws are rarely, if ever, enforced, but they’re still an affront to justice by turning the victims of crime into criminals themselves. Now a Republican state legislator in Utah has introduced a bill that could also turn a lawful gun owner into a criminal; not for…
Weatherby is expanding its RPM cartridge family with the launch of the 25 WBY RPM (Rebated Precision Magnum), a fast-twist quarter-bore designed to push modern, high-BC bullets at true magnum velocities without the bulk of a traditional magnum rifle. The new 25 RPM is engineered around Weatherby’s Mark V six-lug action. It uses a refined RPM case with a rebated rim, minimal body taper, and a 35-degree shoulder. The goal is efficiency. More usable case capacity, consistent performance, and an overall length that supports today’s long, heavy-for-caliber projectiles. With a 1:7.5 twist rate, the 25 RPM is optimized for bullets…
Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly said that United States ruler Donald Trump is seeking a “peaceful transfer” of Greenland from Denmark. This would be a “purchase,” in which the U.S. would buy the Arctic island from Denmark instead of using the military to take it over. “President Trump has made it well known that acquiring Greenland is a national security priority of the United States, and it’s vital to deter our adversaries in the Arctic region,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said. She added that using the military is “always an option at the commander-in-chief’s disposal.” Danish Prime Minister Mette…
A rapid hiring blitz that added about 12,000 officers to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in less than a year is now drawing scrutiny on Capitol Hill as lawmakers question whether the agency lowered training standards to meet aggressive recruitment targets.ICE, under the authority of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), announced Jan. 3 that it expanded its workforce by roughly 120% after a nationwide recruitment campaign added more than 12,000 officers and agents—growing the agency from about 10,000 personnel to more than 22,000. ICE officials said much of that growth occurred in just about four months following an…
Gun owners in the Twin Cities suburb of Edina, Minnesota turned out in force at City Hall on Tuesday night as the Edina City Council took another step towards adopting a local gun control ordinance that squarely conflicts with the state’s firearm preemption law. The city council was set to vote on the measure in mid-November, but Mayor James Hovland announced instead that the vote would be delayed until after a public hearing on the ordinance. That special town hall meeting took place on Tuesday night, with residents crowding the council chamber to voice their…
Since his military incursion in Venezuela, United States President Donald Trump has threatened at least five countries across three continents. This is causing international uproar and making the U.S. the enemy of many, according to political analyst and American journalist Bradley Blankenship. “This is how you create enemies,” he said. “Not only abroad, but at home as well.” Blankenship is also the founder of the Northern Kentucky Truth and Accountability Project. He has argued that Washington’s seizure of Maduro has elevated him into a powerful political symbol rather than weakening his movement. Trump: A Military Raid On Colombia “Sounds Good” “When you…
After a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit concluded that California’s ammunition background check scheme violates the Second Amendment, California Attorney General Rob Bonta asked for an en banc review by the appellate court. That request was granted, and oral arguments in Rhode v. Bonta will take place in late March. Ahead of that hearing a number of interested parties are filing amicus briefs in support of the plaintiffs and defendants. The Department of Justice filed a brief siding with Kim Rhode and her fellow gun owners on Monday (more on that in an upcoming post),…
A divided panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has ruled that California’s ban on open carry in large, urban counties violates the Second Amendment, delivering another major blow to the state’s public-carry regime. In Baird v. Bonta, the court held that California’s prohibition on openly carrying firearms in counties with populations over 200,000 (covering roughly 95 percent of the state’s residents) cannot survive constitutional scrutiny under the Supreme Court’s Bruen framework. The panel ordered judgment entered in favor of plaintiff Mark Baird on that claim and remanded the case accordingly. Attorney Don Hammond breaks down…
It’s a mystery that’s stymied investigators in East Hartford, Connecticut, for more than seven years – who killed disabled Air Force veteran Dominic Marino? What’s KnownHere’s what local police do know. On Nov. 18, 2018, an intruder kicked in the front door of Marino’s house along Suffolk Drive, subdued him by taping up his wrist and ankles, and shot him in the chest, leaving him to die. Police were notified when Vinny, a brother who lived with Marino, 30, arrived home and reported the incident. After a medical examiner ruled Marino’s death a homicide, detectives began investigating the case. However, seven years…
REI is well-known for its generous return policy. Co-op members have a year to return almost any product, even if it’s been used. That product then gets placed in the used gear section, where members can buy it at major discounts. Whenever a customer returns a product, a sales associate creates a tag with the product info, the new discounted price, and the customer’s “stated reason” for the return. As you might imagine, the reasons (sometimes excuses) people give for returning used gear to REI run the gamut. (Photo/Shutterstock) For instance, some of the stated reasons for return are sensible.…
For years, the Ninth Circuit was easily the most anti-gun court in the nation. There wasn’t a gun control law they didn’t love. The only good news came from decisions handed down by “Saint” Roger Benitez. He was the isolated voice of sanity in a sea of crazy, though, and so his decisions didn’t last very long. But following the Bruen decision, there’s far less ambiguity for the lower courts to play with. Now, there’s a line in the sand that has to be crossed before a law can be declared constitutional, and states like…
Sturm, Ruger & Company closed out the year with a major move in the modern sporting rifle space, officially launching the Ruger Harrier™. The Harrier is a completely re-engineered AR-pattern platform built for modern shooters and manufactured in Ruger’s newly acquired Hebron, Kentucky facility. Rather than a cosmetic refresh, Ruger is positioning the Harrier as a clean-sheet redesign focused on fit, function, durability, and aftermarket compatibility. Areas that matter most to today’s MSR buyers. Two 5.56 Models at Launch The initial Harrier lineup includes two rifles chambered in 5.56 NATO (fully compatible with .223 Remington). Each was built around a…
The rhetoric about the takeover of Greenland by the United States has ramped up at the same time that a military operation in Venezuela leaves the U.S. “running” the socialist nation. And now, a top aide to President Donald Trump has said that “obviously Greenland should be part of the U.S.” Trump’s deputy chief of staff for policy, Stephen Miller, has reiterated that Greenland “should” belong to the U.S., calling it Washington’s “formal position.” Trump Renews Calls To Take Over Greenland In Aftermath Of Venezuela Attack Asked to comment, Miller confirmed Washington’s ambitions. “The president has been clear for months that…
Waterfowl hunting is the most gear-intensive activity I participate in — boats, decoys, guns, waders, jackets, calls, etc. And don’t even get me started on all the extra equipment and expense that comes with a gun dog. It’s a lot. The last thing I’ve ever wanted to do was add a niche bag, like the Drake Waterfowl Large Blind Bag, to the mix. I have dozens of backpacks, some big, some small. I’ve always used a backpack when waterfowling, and silently thought my buddies who caved for a satchel-sized blind bag were trying too hard to be a “waterfowler.” Then,…
An employee of the city of Lawrence, Kansas shot an intruder at City Hall on Monday morning, in what police are calling an act of self-defense. Lawrence Police Chief Rick Lockhart said the intruder managed to gain entry through a back door, then made their way up a stairwell to the fourth floor, where they broke a glass window in the stairwell door before they were confronted by two employees. According to authorities, a fight ensued between the intruder and the employee before shots were fired. Lockhart said that the employee was “trained and authorized”…
The firearm market cooled slightly in December 2025, but demand for lawful gun ownership remains historically strong, according to newly released National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) data. The NSSF-adjusted National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) figure for December 2025 came in at 1,587,049, a 3.4 percent decrease compared to December 2024’s adjusted total of 1,642,270. For comparison, the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported an unadjusted December 2025 NICS figure of 2,220,852, reflecting a 16.1 percent decline from the unadjusted 2,647,933 checks recorded in December 2024. Top States for Background Checks Despite the year-over-year dip, several states continued to dominate…
If you’re a lover of all things firearms related—and face it, who among the TTAG faithful isn’t—you might just be getting a recruitment advertisement over social media soon. And don’t be surprised if it comes by way of the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE). According to a not-so-flattering Washington Post report, ICE is planning to spend $100 million over the next year to recruit “gun rights supporters and military enthusiasts” through online influencers and geo-targeted advertising campaigns. “The spending would help President Donald Trump’s mass-deportation agenda dominate media networks and recruitment channels, including through ads targeting people who have…
