Police in the state of Washington have detained 23 people who allegedly threw a party in a veteran’s empty home and caused an estimated $50,000 in damage. Piere County Sheriff’s Deputies detained those in question, aged between 14 and 20, after deputies caught the individuals hosting a party at an empty home owned by Michael Legue, a retired U.S. Air Force tech sergeant. The incident took place last week. “On July 18th around 9:15pm, deputies were dispatched to a home listed for sale in the Graham area where 23 juveniles had broken in, vandalized the whole home, and were having…

On my second run after a 5-week hiatus, I clocked my fastest 5K of the year on flat pea gravel trails. It was most definitely the shoes. The evidence is anecdotal, but I consistently found my pace was faster than perceived while running in the Salomon Aero Glide 4 GRVL shoes. In a bit of a sample mix-up, I first ran in the road shoe version, the Salomon Aero Glide 4, which immediately impressed me with its speed and cushioned support. When I switched to the gravel version, the Salomon Aero Glide 4 GRVL, the feeling wasn’t too far off.…

The Third Circuit’s decision striking down New Jersey’s assault weapon ban was just the latest blow to the Garden State’s gun control scheme. While there are still plenty of gun control laws on the books there, the reality is that the judicial landscape isn’t supportive of the idea that they’re constitutional, even a little bit. After all, it was a Biden-appointed judge who wrote the majority’s decision in that most recent case. Even the liberal judges are starting to recognize that the time for gun control is well in the past. But New Jersey isn’t going…

It can happen in an instant: You trip over a tree root, a rock you think is stable begins to move, or you slip on a steep downhill. In a flash, you’re on the ground, and you’ve wound up with a sprained ankle. This injury happens to hikers everywhere all the time, but for visitors to one national park, it’s especially pervasive. In Acadia National Park, trail and weather conditions frequently combine to produce the perfect storm for “Acadia Ankle”: broken, sprained, or otherwise hurt ankles. Here’s why it happens, and what visitors can do to stay safe. What the…

Homicides in the United States are the lowest they’ve been since at least 1960, and according to some researchers the murder rate may actually be the lowest in 150 years.  That should be cause for celebration, yet when former congresswoman Gabby Giffords addressed anti-violence activists at the Giffords-sponsored Community Violence Intervention Conference in Los Angeles, CA this week, the gun control activist made it sound like the United States was in the grips of a crime wave. “We are at a crossroads. We can let the shooting continue, or we can act,” said Giffords, who survived…

There is something very alarming happening in the United States right now. Yes, more terrifying than a pandemic being sold as the next Black Death when it was really more of a particularly nasty flu, based on my experience with it. What I’m talking about is the rise of actual socialism in the US. In particular, the “Democratic Socialist” types such as Graham Platner, Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and now with many others poised to win primaries for reliably blue seats. And I’m not the only one who is concerned.Over at the National Shooting Sports…

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House on Thursday narrowly passed a resolution to halt U.S. military action in Iran, sending a warning to President Donald Trump for the second time as the war has escalated and the future of the conflict is increasingly uncertain. The 214-208 vote requiring congressional approval for the war comes as the Senate is expected to consider a similar resolution later Thursday morning. Though the votes forced by Democrats are largely symbolic, they are meant as a strong signal to the Republican president that his support on Capitol Hill is chipping away as the war drags on…

I’m always amused when I see anti-gun activists claim to be moderate and only in favor of a few “common sense measures,” when the gun control lobby is busy pushing laws that criminalize basic aspects of our right to keep and bear arms.  Khary Penebaker, who’s been involved with Everytown and Moms Demand Action, tried using this approach on X, and things did not go well for him. Dear responsible gun owners: the laws we are asking for would not touch you. Background checks, safe storage, red flags. If your rifle is locked and your record…
