Perhaps my favorite fiction author is Larry Correia. His Monster Hunter International series is incredible, though the Grimnoir series is my favorite. He’s done others, and one that I think a lot of people sleep on is the novel he did with John D. Brown called “Gun Runner.” It’s a science fiction work that, frankly, I enjoyed so much. While I’m hoping we get a second book there, it seems there’s something else in the works in that universe.A Kickstarter for a graphic novel version of the book. The 2021 Dragon Award-winning military science fiction novel…
Gun owners (or most of them, anyway) are rightfully delighted with U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix’s decision that much of the National Firearms Act has been rendered moot now that the making and transfer taxes on suppressors, short-barreled firearms, and “any other weapons” have been zeroed out by Congress in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. As Reason’s Jacob Sullum writes in his latest syndicated column, though, even folks who have no plans to purchase a suppressor or short-barreled rifle in the future should be pleased by how Hendrix reached his decision. Hendrix didn’t decide…
More than 100,000 surplus M14 rifles once used by the U.S. military are expected to go on sale to the public beginning early next year through the Civilian Marksmanship Program. The organization is a federally chartered nonprofit that plans to sell the guns. CMP CEO and board Chairman Jerry O’Keefe said the organization is targeting a price below $2,000 per rifle, though final pricing has not yet been announced.” Every buyer is limited to two weapons apiece, and sales are expected in January. The CMP could reconsider this limit as sales go on. CMP CEO and board Chairman Jerry O’Keefe…
I keep trying to keep myself calm regarding the court’s decision on the NFA registry requirement for suppressors and short-barreled long guns. I want it to mean the end of the NFA requirements entirely, and while they’re gone for now, there’s no guarantee they won’t return down the road. I want to temper my expectations. Still gonna SBR my home defense rifle and put a can on it, though. However, it’s always possible that an appeal will come. That’s not stopping Giffords from absolutely losing its mind over it.Trump’s Justice Department just failed to defend nearly 100…
PHOENIX (AP) — All eyes were on Navajo Code Talker Thomas H. Begay. The 101-year-old veteran saluted while the national anthem played on Friday, kicking off a day of recognition honoring him and the other Navajo recruits who famously used their native language to keep military secrets during World War II. Begay, one of the last two living Code Talkers, made the long trip from his home on the Navajo Nation to the Arizona State Capitol for the event. He was joined by family members and dozens of descendants of other Code Talkers. “I am so damn proud,” said Begay,…

The United States once planned to drop more than 1,000 bomb-carrying bats over Japanese cities. A psychologist taught pigeons to guide missiles. Cold War troops were issued a recoilless weapon capable of launching a nuclear warhead. British engineers built a giant pair of rocket-powered wheels stuffed with explosives and expected the contraption to drive itself up a beach. These weren’t concepts that lived only on paper. Every weapon on this list reached at least the prototype or testing stage. Several entered military service, and some were used in combat. Here are 15 of the strangest weapons military engineers actually built.…
HELSINGBORG, Sweden (AP) — NATO allies and defense officials expressed bewilderment Friday at U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that he would send 5,000 U.S. troops to Poland just weeks after ordering the same number of forces pulled out of Europe. The apparent change of mind came after weeks of statements from Trump and his administration about reducing — not increasing — the U.S. military footprint in Europe. Trump’s initial order set off a flurry of action among military commanders and left allies already doubtful about America’s commitment to Europe’s security to ponder what forces they might have to backfill on…
Kris Brown has been in charge of Brady for almost eight years now, and has worked in the gun control lobby for nearly a decade; long enough that I wonder if she’s not a little burnt out by now. Some of Brown’s recent statements are so tired and stale that it seems like she’s just on autopilot, or maybe using AI to come up with her talking points. The latest example of her laziness comes from her Substack, in a piece that claims (yawn) Virgiinia Democrats “chose children over the gun lobby” by passing a…
Wargames are the pinnacle of strategic combat simulation in the digital space, offering the very best simulations that model military, political, or strategic operations. While many are descended from the tabletop genre of the same name, others have been more aligned with military training exercises, with a focus on realism and reenactment (or re-creation) of real-world scenarios. Despite the assumptions that might come from reading the name, wargaming is more than pitting two oppositional forces against one another and seeing who wins. They examine concepts beyond simple numbers and teach players how to assess scenarios, and explore how planning and…

We’ve seen a number of mass shootings on college campuses over the years, both here and abroad. The shooting at FSU last year is but a recent example.Despite the fact that the gun-free zone status of these campuses has never been respected by any would-be killer, mass or otherwise, campus carry remains controversial. Heaven forbid we allow legal adults to defend themselves. But some states have done the right thing, and New Hampshire was poised to follow. The state with “Live Free or Die” on its license plates could have done something about living free.Yet…

TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) — Taiwan hasn’t been notified of any pause in a planned $14 billion U.S. arms sale to the self-governing island, a government official said Friday, after the acting U.S. Navy secretary told a Senate committee in Washington that some foreign military sales were being delayed to ensure the American military has enough munitions for the Iran war. Days after U.S. President Donald Trump raised doubts about continuing arms sales to Taiwan, which China claims as its own territory, acting U.S. Navy Secretary Hung Cao said Thursday that the sales would resume when the administration considers it appropriate.…
