Ask anyone the kinds of things that preppers stockpile and you’ll hear the same things every time: food, water, flashlights, batteries, first aid kits, etc. These things are the foundation of any serious prepper plan, and for good reason. They’re things that will keep you alive when the power goes out or the store shelves empty. But there’s another category of gear that a lot of experienced preppers rarely bring up in conversation. These are things that don’t make it into the typical beginner checklists, not because they’re useless, but because they sit in a legal gray area or carry…
Straw buys are overhyped as a source of guns, at least in my opinion, but they’re still an issue. Even if you dislike the laws that lead to such things, the truth is that it’s illegal, and it’s going to be leveraged for more gun control at every opportunity. Yes, even if there’s no interest in actually enforcing the laws in the first place. Which is why the National Shooting Sports Foundation is teaming up with the ATF and the Department of Justice.NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, together with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,…
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner at the Kremlin on Saturday for renewed talks on ending Russia’s war in Ukraine. The meeting that lasted more than three hours behind closed doors ended without announcements of any breakthroughs. Putin’s foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov described them as constructive, frank and useful to journalists afterward, but didn’t talk about specific outcomes. Witkoff and Kushner are expected in Kyiv on Sunday. The talks come as both sides continue to escalate aerial attacks. Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy both agreed to pause strikes on each other’s…
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), plans to address the USS Liberty on the House floor this week and has invited survivors of the 1967 attack to attend, bringing renewed attention to one of the most controversial incidents in U.S. naval history. Massie announced the planned speech in a post on X ahead of the June 8 anniversary of the attack. Survivors of the USS Liberty have been invited to attend the remarks, which come as a federal court considers a lawsuit seeking the release of additional government records related to the incident. Members of Congress rarely address the USS Liberty on…

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (AP) — President Donald Trump is dismissing the idea that launching the war with Iran this year betrayed his refrain of “No new wars” that he made repeatedly as he campaigned again for the White House. Trump, in an interview that aired Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” said he “didn’t guarantee” there would be no wars if he were back in office. “First of all, I didn’t guarantee no war. Why would I have built the strongest military in the world?” Trump said. Trump also defended plans for a now-scrapped $1.8 billion fund that would have compensated…
Emergency candles have been a survival staple for generations, but carrying loose candles and matches is a sloppy solution. They roll around, get lost, and offer no wind protection when you actually need a flame. That’s where a little historical inspiration goes a long way. The Civil War era produced some remarkably clever field gear, born out of necessity and built from whatever was on hand. This candle lantern design draws directly from that tradition. It’s compact, functional, and built from common materials. It holds up to three candles and a book of matches, and it doubles as a wind…
