Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadThere’s a crisis possibly looming on the horizon—a food crisis. The downside of this developing crisis is just that it’s developing. Developing means it’s already begun. The indicators are all there. It’s started, and if things continue as they are, we may find ourselves in a serious food situation—with higher prices, holes on the shelves, and potential civil unrest. TL;DR: The approaching food crisis is driven by four converging pressures: rising fertilizer costs, fuel and transportation disruptions, growing dependence on a fragile global supply chain, and worsening drought. These problems stack on top of…
The NRA v. NRA Foundation family feud has leveled up. A federal judge dismissed some of NRA’s claims against the Foundation and the Foundation has punched back with a countersuit. The National Rifle Association and the group formerly known as the NRA Foundation — rebranded to 1791 Foundation — has been locked in battle since 2025. What was a private squabble has turned into lawsuits. Yes, suits. And there appears to be no concessions happening from either group anytime soon. A federal judge recently dismissed some of the NRA’s claims against the Foundation and shortly…
LONDON (AP) — NATO’s deputy commander told The Associated Press that he wants a summit in Turkey to spur member countries to spend more on defense, reaffirm support for Ukraine and underline the unity of the alliance. Air Chief Marshal John Stringer, NATO Deputy Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, spoke to AP in London less than two weeks before the crucial Ankara summit on July 7-8 tests the cohesion of the 77-year-old alliance. U.S. President Donald Trump has sent conflicting signals over America’s force posture in Europe and has threatened to leave the alliance. He has also unnerved European leaders…
I don’t expect much out of Gavin Newsom besides hair gel and terrible decisions. Somehow, though, he’s still a frontrunner for the next Democratic nomination for president. Absolutely weird. His latest bad decision was to attack the Supreme Court’s decision in Wolford, where they struck down the so-called vampire rule.Newsom, like most anti-gunners, has a problem with the decision, but his attempt to make a point was hilariously bad. Let’s start with his argument first.Gun laws keep people safe. This ruling by Trump’s Supreme Court will only endanger people. If Justice Alito really thinks people need…
Standing at the top of the park jumps, it was my turn to ride in front of the camera. I would be sending the big jump line at Crested Butte Mountain Resort on a spring day in February. The unusually warm temperatures had the extreme terrain riding poorly due to icy conditions. But the terrain park, on a sunnier aspect, was perfectly soft. The local high school kids were out in force today, constantly putting down bigger tricks. At almost 30 years old, I have learned to approach the park a bit differently — no longer willing to take as…
Aero Precision isn’t bankrupt. But something is clearly wrong. Inventory has vanished. Orders are delayed for months. Lawsuits are piling up. And the company hasn’t said a word—until now. (see below). If you’ve spent any time on AR15.com, Sniper’s Hide, Ruger Forum, or gun-Reddit in the last few months, you’ve seen the question over and over: Is Aero Precision dying? Builder sets are gone. Lowers are unobtainium. Dealers say wholesale orders take months. Forum posts claim insurance got yanked from employees. So what’s actually going on at the Tacoma-based AR-15 giant? We pulled together public records, court filings, the company’s…
Billionaire hedge fund boss Ray Dalio has said that the United States has slid into stagflation for the first time since the early 1980s. Dalio, who founded the Bridgewater Associates hedge fund and is famed for correctly predicting the 2008 financial crisis. Stagflation is a toxic combination of stagnant economic growth, high inflation, and high unemployment. It last gripped the US in the 1970s and early 1980s, when an OPEC oil embargo sent energy prices spiraling. It took the US Federal Reserve a series of brutal rate hikes – pushing borrowing costs above 20% – to finally break the cycle,…
Gun owners have won a significant victory in Maryland, with the state Supreme Court tossing several gun control ordinances adopted by Montgomery County in the wake of the Bruen decision in 2022. Maryland legislators passed their own Bruen response bill after the state’s “may issue” concealed carry permitting system was ruled unconstitutional by SCOTUS, but Montgomery County’s measures were even more restrictive. The Maryland Supreme Court opinion is thick with legalese and citations to various sections of code that can make it a little difficult to understand the scope of its decision, but the 2A group Maryland Shall…
The telltale splashy color blocks of Cotopaxi packs became a common sight inside airport terminals seemingly overnight. Beginning with the simple Del Dia daypacks and eventually the purpose-built Allpa carry-on bags, travel packs became the leading category for the iconic “Do Good” B-corp. With every size of carry-ons, soft-side roller bags, totes, and a variety of duffels, Cotopaxi had one glaring omission from the lineup: hard-side luggage. I received an early sample of the Coraza, Cotopaxi’s first hard-side, four-wheeled bags. Beyond the typical aesthetic flair, Cotopaxi tries to elbow a niche by making the bags modular, repairable, and semi-customizable. In…
Pew Research has released some interesting and new collated data on gun-involved crimes in the United States in 2024, and their stats confirm what Second Amendment advocates and those opposed to bans on so-called assault weapons have been saying for decades: they are rarely used in crimes of any kind in the United States. According to Pew, rifles of all kinds (including so-called assault weapons) were involved in just 3% of gun-related homicides in 2024. Handguns were involved in 53%, with “undetermined” firearms involved in 42% of homicides. The Supreme Court rejected the idea that handguns…
This article was originally published by Michael Snyder at The Economic Collapse Blog under the title: Oil Production In The Persian Gulf Has Fallen 57 Percent From Pre-War Levels – Rationing And Shortages Are Coming They aren’t telling you the truth about what is coming. Even if the Strait of Hormuz reopens tomorrow, and there is no way that is going to happen, oil production will not return to pre-war levels for years. In other words, we are facing an extended global energy crisis no matter what happens now. Of course, if the fighting resumes and more oil and gas…

Since the Virginia General Assembly approved a revised version of the bill last week, there’s been a whole lot of confusion about Virginia’s HB 1525, which raises the age to purchase handguns from 18 to 21 and requires the Virginia State Police to resume conducting background checks on private sales. Governor Abigail Spanberger’s amended version contained language that declared the act an emergency, which would allow it to take effect immediately, but the legislature did not approve the changes with a 4/5ths vote, which is supposedly what’s required in order for that “emergency” provision to be adopted. …
