KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine kept up its heavy drone assault on Russia, setting fire to a major oil refinery in the south, as President Vladimir Putin acknowledged for the first time on Sunday that the country was facing a “certain deficit” of fuel and vowed to strengthen protection of oil facilities and boost fuel output. Ukraine has markedly stepped up its long-range attacks on Russian military industries and energy facilities in recent months, aiming to cut Moscow’s revenue for its invasion — now in its fifth year — and make Russians feel the consequences. “Our ‘long-range sanctions’ reached two…

The U.S. Coast Guard’s latest narcotics interdiction involved three suspected smuggling vessels carrying approximately 6,085 pounds of cocaine worth nearly $45.8 million, the service announced Thursday. The announcement comes on the heels of a banner 2025 year for the Coast Guard, which seized a record-high of more than 511,000 pounds of cocaine—more than three times the service’s annual average. Other successful efforts have been attributed to counter-narcotics operations through Operation Pacific Viper, which was launched in August 2025 to combat drug smuggling and narco-terrorism in the Eastern Pacific Ocean by using aircraft, cutters and tactical teams to disrupt trafficking routes…

A suspected trespasser is dead after a confrontation with a homeowner in a northeast Houston subdivision. Investigators are now sorting through whether the shooting was lawful self-defense or something that could lead to charges. Houston Police Department says the incident unfolded inside a newer housing development near Tidwell Road and Robins Landing Way after residents reportedly dealt with weeks of ongoing trespassing problems in the neighborhood. According to reporting from KPRC 2 Houston, neighbors had repeatedly complained about a man allegedly wandering through backyards and entering vacant homes still under construction. Police say the man was “unhoused” and had become…
Xbox just rolled out a brand new Gamerscore feature that fans may be disappointed to find doesn’t include the one thing they have been asking for since 2008. Xbox’s new system may be a neat new way for fans to show off what their Gamerscore accumulation looks like, but it’s certainly no platinum trophy. Xbox achievements were introduced in 2005 with the Xbox 360, and with them came the Xbox Gamerscore system, which massively altered how fans interacted with games. The system proved so popular among Xbox owners that Valve, Sony, and even Apple eventually integrated achievements into their own…
Two public-access groups filed a lawsuit in Montana this week over corner crossing, one day after Lt. Gov. Kristen Juras told state lawmakers that the practice remains unlawful under Montana property and trespass law. On May 14, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA) and the Public Land & Water Access Association (PLWA) filed suit in Lewis and Clark County District Court. The groups want a court to clarify whether people can legally step from one public parcel to another at a shared corner without touching private land. BHA said the lawsuit seeks to secure access to roughly 871,000 acres of public…
Daniel Defense is one of the better-known manufacturers of AR-15s. They sell really good quality rifles, and they stand with the Second Amendment, which is kind of essential for their business to succeed. Having chatted with a few of the guys who work there in the past, it’s a company made up of good people who simply want to provide a much-needed product to the American people so we can defend ourselves and our way of life, if need be. But then, on the flip side, we have the Good Men Project, which thinks that…
DAKAR, Senegal (AP) — U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision last year to abruptly dissolve the U.S. Agency for International Development — once a leading global aid donor — has been followed by a significant increase in violence in several African countries that the agency had supported, according to a study published on Thursday. While the authors did not blame the USAID cuts for the increase in violence, they said the findings demonstrate that “large-scale, sudden aid cuts can destabilize fragile settings.” They, however, added that this is not evidence that more aid reduces conflict, instead it only shows “the effect…
The New York Times is being sued for discrimination. The company was served with a lawsuit for passing up a white man for a promotion. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed the lawsuit on Tuesday on behalf of a New York Times editor who lodged a complaint against the company. The New York Times called the lawsuit politically motivated and said it would defend itself “vigorously,” according to a report by The Associated Press. The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of New York. According to the filing, the man alerted the EEOC that…

Without the Second Amendment, the rest are vulnerable. Even with it, rights are usurped all the time. A recent Fourth Amendment win pulls into focus just how fragile everything is. It’s a slippery slope when rights start to get violated. Especially when it comes to our protections of having our persons and papers secured, right to not self-incriminate, and right to an attorney. It’s a simple formula to follow and remember when dealing with the authorities: “I want to invoke my Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendment rights.” Or in other words: you can’t look/come in…
Bosses are often the best parts of what a video game has to offer. They might present a challenge beyond what normal enemies can provide, serving as a litmus test for the player’s understanding of game mechanics. In some cases, bosses are just as much about the emotional stakes of the story, making you face off against a looming threat or an old friend turned rival. Their presence as gatekeepers to further progress can sometimes frustrate players, blocking those who are missing information or who are less skilled from further experiencing the story or gameplay. But humans are nothing if…
Camp shoes are all about relief. After a long day in hiking boots, ski boots, climbing shoes, or trail runners, the best pairs give tired feet room to breathe, recover, and stay comfortable around camp. We focused on comfort, warmth, sock compatibility, packability, traction, and real camp use across snow-covered decks, muddy campsites, hut floors, wet grass, and quick trips outside in the dark. The Teva ReEmber Camp Slip-On stands out as…
