Flying with archery gear usually means dragging a giant bow case, a stuffed duffel, and a credit card for oversize fees. I wanted to see if I could skip that circus. So I packed the KUIU Waypoint 10000 Roller with everything I needed for multiple hunts. I loaded it with my compound bow, longbow, arrows, broadheads, releases, tools, boots, layers, and toiletries. Then I hauled it from elk camp in the mountains, through an airport in Montana, down to Texas, and straight back to the mountains again. And I never once needed a secondary bow case. The Waypoint handled it…

By Patrick Sweeney The late Col. Jeff Cooper had no use or love for the 9mm Parabellum cartridge, but there was one 9mm pistol for which he had a good word: The CZ 75. Cooper revealed its existence in a one-page article published in Guns & Ammo’s February 1977 issue. Until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the Czech Republic’s independence in 1993, the CZ 75 possessed an aura of secrecy and intrigue among firearm enthusiasts.(Photo by Michael Anschuetz)For 2025, CZ-USA is offering a CZ 75 B anniversary model. When a U.S. airman dropped his Sig M18, the military version of the P320, and the gun fired, killing another airman, the U.S. Air Force suspended the use of the pistol at all nuclear weapons sites for a month. Now, more than three months later, the real story has come out. The accidental shooting had nothing to do with dropping the pistol, and the now deceased airman who accidentally shot his comrade talked his buddies into helping him cover up the deed. According to a report at airforcetimes.com, two airmen at F.E. Warren Air Force Base outside of Cheyenne, Wyoming,…

A small, seemingly innocuous update is sometimes all a piece of gear needs to become a near-perfect design. For example, Fenix’s PD36R ACE is now “near perfection” just by adding USB-C charging. Turtlebox did the same thing with waterproof speakers, just by taking its flagship design and shrinking it down to the Ranger. With the Garmin Instinct Crossover AMOLED, the beloved technology brand has finally made a hybrid watch that looks and feels like the premium product that it is — just by adding a better display. Garmin first released its Crossover lineup in 2022, blending smartwatch technology with functional…

Maybe I’m just getting old, but I don’t really understand crypto all that well. I hate that I didn’t jump on the Bitcoin bandwagon when it first started rolling, because I could be rich right now, but I didn’t and that’s because I really don’t get it. But a lot of people do, and one thing I do understand is that it’s a handy way to get around banks. This makes it attractive for people involved in illicit activities, but it also makes it useful for those who are engaged in legal ones, but that…

Forget the days when shooters had to spend a fortune for reliable glass. We’re living in a golden age of optics, where even newcomers are producing high-quality, feature-packed sights at reasonable prices. One of those rising names is Gideon Optics, the optics division of JSD Supply. Founded in 2022, this Pennsylvania-based company set out to bridge the gap between affordability and performance. Interestingly, it was named after one of my Old Testament heroes, Gideon. He was a warrior, a leader, and a prophet, and is found in the book of Judges.  During the summer of 2023, the company launched its…

I booked a 2-week trip to Iceland in September, knowing the weather might be rainy and unpredictable. Still, I hadn’t anticipated the amount of cold and muck that such conditions create in that part of the world. Thankfully, I’d packed my Merry People Tully Ankle Rain Boots. Whether I was traipsing through puddles at a campsite, enduring a brief sunshower in the capital city of Reykjavik, or hiking through the mist at some of Europe’s largest waterfalls, these boots kept my feet dry and warm.  This well-made boot can be worn in all seasons; (photo/Michelle Polizzi) Plus, the platform sole…

A couple of days ago, I wrote a story about a man in the UK who was arrested and charged with terrorism-related offenses simply because he had the recipe for gunpowder. While the story doesn’t explicitly say exactly which recipe he had, it was probably black powder, which is actually a pretty simple concoction. But just possessing the recipe may well land this man in prison, all for a bit of information written on a piece of paper. Now, this is in the UK, not the United States, but some here want to try and prohibit people…

This article was originally published by Tyler Durden at ZeroHedge.  In this all-encompassing conversation, Matterhorn Asset Management, AG partner, Matthew Piepenburg, meets with the Jay Martin Show to discuss the financial and political forces which daily strengthen the case and role of physical gold. Centralization of information, politics, digital currencies, and reckless monetary policies is a theme that runs throughout this fascinating discussion. Matthew addresses the consequences of a weaponized reserve currency and an equally politicized/weaponized (i.e., non-transparent/unaccountable) political and media environment to characterize an era of “splintered chaos” in everything from social fracturing to the slow then rapid implosion of financial markets. These forces…

Chicago really is an easy mark. Just add up all of what they bring to the table; high crime, onerous laws, and a strong history of anti-civil rights policies and politicians. The latest news from the police blotter – which is active nearly all day every day – that’s worth bringing up, involves a string of robberies. The robberies follow the same pattern and illustrates why it’s of extreme importance to have a good sense of situational awareness. The community alert comes from 025th District Grand Central. The service had not previously indicated that it considered the blaze intentional. In the days after the fire, there were hints that arson was a possibility when…

The state of Minnesota is tenuously in control of anti-gun lawmakers after last November’s elections. Since I don’t live there, I’m not losing a lot of sleep over it, but I’m not crazy about what they’re doing because a lot of gun people are still in the state. It seems that the House there is about to make their lives a lot more difficult, too. The Minnesota House of Representatives advanced a public safety bill that includes two gun control proposals that will introduce universal background checks and a “red-flag” provision. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Kelly Moller (DFL-Shoreview), passed the…

ATF Director Steve Dettelbach spent Wednesday (April 26th) in front of the House Judiciary Committee answering questions on ATF overreach. Republicans, in particular committee chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), slammed ATF’s capricious shift on pistol stabilizing braces, while Democrats assaulted the Republicans’ motivations for questioning why ATF is trying to turn potentially millions of law abiding gun owners into felons by retroactively applying a new opinion to a product that was previously ATF-approved. Rep. Jordan’s primary contentions were: • ATF has overstepped its authority. Unelected bureaucrats are effectively making new laws. Jordan said, “That’s not how it’s supposed to work in…

Gun owners and Second Amendment advocates won a huge victory on Friday with U.S. District Judge Stephen McGlynn’s order granting a preliminary injunction against the enforcement of Illinois’ ban on so-called assault weapons and large capacity magazines. McGlynn delivered a strong rebuke to the architects of the ban in his ruling, noting the Highland Park Independence Day was the impetus for the ban and wondering whether the “senseless crimes of a relative few be so despicable to justify the infringement of the constitutional rights of law-abiding individuals in hopes that such crimes will then abate or, at least, not be…
