The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and its partners have filed a petition for en banc review with the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, seeking full court reconsideration of their ongoing lawsuit against New Jersey’s sweeping “sensitive places” gun-carry restrictions. The case, Koons v. Attorney General of New Jersey, challenges the state’s post-Bruen legislation, which designates an extensive network of “sensitive places” where even licensed concealed carriers are prohibited from possessing firearms. Critics argue the law effectively nullifies the right to carry across much of the state. A Law Designed to Defy Bruen Following the Supreme Court’s 2022 New York State…
Is the bike going to explode? I didn’t know, but I was about to find out. In September, I was riding the Santa Cruz Bullit X0 AXS RSV electric mountain bike, and following Kurt Sorge, three-time Red Bull Rampage winner, into the new double-black feature — a 30-foot wall ride — on Obsidius trail at the RED Bike Park. I was curious to find out how the new Santa Cruz Bullit would handle such a large drop — I’d never hit one that big on an e-mountain bike. Zoning in, I followed Sorge’s speed and mimicked his pop onto the…
We all grow older. There is nothing we can do about that, but the quality of those years is within our control, as recent research has shown. After receiving a doctor’s approval to begin any exercise program, aging adults who have not been physically active for decades should start their fitness journey with the basics, such as walking and stretching. Once a solid foundation is built, though, a regular, higher-intensity exercise program can lead to remarkable improvements in heart health, according to one study. That study covered a two-year, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) program and its effects on sedentary individuals 50 to…

When you open the AllTrails app and zoom in on Chicago running routes, you’ll see nearly 200 options across the city. Zoom in even further and you’ll find the beating heart of each neighborhood: solo runners hitting their coffee shop commute before work or running clubs going door to door to their favorite restaurants, like Cozy Noodles n’ Rice. HOKA athlete Chef Tee is the chef–owner at Cozy Noodles n’ Rice in Wrigleyville. He started running casually just to stay in shape, but quickly got swept up in the running spirit that fuels the city. In 2014, Chef Tee got…
On Wednesday’s Bearing Arms’ Cam & Company, Firearms Policy Coalition founder and president Brandon Combs noted a disturbing trend inside the DOJ. While the Department has taken historic action to defend the right to keep and bear arms against state and local infringements, it’s also defended virtually every federal gun control law that’s currently being challenged, though in some cases that defense is more passive than active. We have yet another example of this phenomenon in a case called Rush v. United States, which is a challenge to the NFA’s registration and taxation scheme for…
Silencer Central — the company that pioneered home delivery of suppressors, has filed a federal lawsuit against FedEx and its subsidiaries, alleging negligent misrepresentation and breach of contract after the shipping giant abruptly refused to continue transporting suppressors. The complaint, filed October 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern Division of South Dakota, claims FedEx misled Silencer Central during lengthy negotiations and then reneged on a signed contract that was essential to the company’s nationwide delivery network. “I’ve been discriminated against by big banks for over 20 years because of the type of business I’m in. Now it…

Dillon is the attorney representing Knife Rights, Inc., the plaintiff in the case. Knife Rights, Inc. v. Bonta seeks to overturn California’s switchblade knife prohibitions. The language of the law amounts to a complete ban on switchblades with blades…
A Washington State editorial writer is sounding awfully defensive about the state’s new ban on so-called assault weapons; asserting that the only reason to oppose the ban is selfishness on the part of gun owners. But the rhetoric from the Tacoma News-Tribune‘s Matt Driscoll doesn’t match the reality of the growing opposition to bans, even among non-gun owners. As we noted earlier this week, yet another poll has now found declining support for a federal “assault weapons” ban, including among Democrats, younger voters, and yes, even those who don’t own a modern sporting rifle of their own. According to Driscoll, however,…

The Army’s top officer grounded all of the service’s aircraft Friday night following two deadly crashes in the past month including one on Thursday that claimed three lives. Gen. James McConville ordered a safety stand-down, directing all aviation units to go over the maintenance of their aircrafts, pilot training and safety precautions. The grounding includes aircraft overseas in Europe and combat zones such as Iraq and Syria, but an officer at the rank of two-star general or above can disregard the stand down in emergencies such as medical evacuations, one Army official told Military.com. “The safety of our aviators is…
This article was originally published by Tyler Durden at ZeroHedge. In this all-encompassing conversation, Matterhorn Asset Management, AG partner, Matthew Piepenburg, meets with the Jay Martin Show to discuss the financial and political forces which daily strengthen the case and role of physical gold. Centralization of information, politics, digital currencies, and reckless monetary policies is a theme that runs throughout this fascinating discussion. Matthew addresses the consequences of a weaponized reserve currency and an equally politicized/weaponized (i.e., non-transparent/unaccountable) political and media environment to characterize an era of “splintered chaos” in everything from social fracturing to the slow then rapid implosion of financial markets. These forces…
Chicago really is an easy mark. Just add up all of what they bring to the table; high crime, onerous laws, and a strong history of anti-civil rights policies and politicians. The latest news from the police blotter – which is active nearly all day every day – that’s worth bringing up, involves a string of robberies. The robberies follow the same pattern and illustrates why it’s of extreme importance to have a good sense of situational awareness. The community alert comes from 025th District Grand Central. This alert gives notice to residents of 025th District of a pattern of…

Navy investigators are offering a $2,000 reward for information on a December 2022 fire aboard the destroyer USS Carney, a blaze they have deemed likely to have resulted from arson. In a social media post made Thursday evening, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service said it is looking “for information leading to the identification of those responsible for starting a fire” aboard the Mayport, Florida-based ship in the early morning hours of Dec. 23. The service had not previously indicated that it considered the blaze intentional. In the days after the fire, there were hints that arson was a possibility when…

The state of Minnesota is tenuously in control of anti-gun lawmakers after last November’s elections. Since I don’t live there, I’m not losing a lot of sleep over it, but I’m not crazy about what they’re doing because a lot of gun people are still in the state. It seems that the House there is about to make their lives a lot more difficult, too. The Minnesota House of Representatives advanced a public safety bill that includes two gun control proposals that will introduce universal background checks and a “red-flag” provision. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Kelly Moller (DFL-Shoreview), passed the…
Army personnel and other visitors to Army bases nationwide could see increased traffic while getting through the gates between now and mid-June as the service checks all incoming IDs in an effort to study security guard staffing requirements. A release from Redstone Arsenal in Alabama on Wednesday warned of the possibility of heightened traffic because of an “Army-wide 100% ID check” project that was starting Friday and will last through May 12. Army spokesperson Lt. Col. Lindsey Elder confirmed to Military.com that the ID checks were being implemented Army-wide. During the checks, security guards will need to scan IDs for…
ATF Director Steve Dettelbach spent Wednesday (April 26th) in front of the House Judiciary Committee answering questions on ATF overreach. Republicans, in particular committee chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), slammed ATF’s capricious shift on pistol stabilizing braces, while Democrats assaulted the Republicans’ motivations for questioning why ATF is trying to turn potentially millions of law abiding gun owners into felons by retroactively applying a new opinion to a product that was previously ATF-approved. Rep. Jordan’s primary contentions were: • ATF has overstepped its authority. Unelected bureaucrats are effectively making new laws. Jordan said, “That’s not how it’s supposed to work in…
Gun owners and Second Amendment advocates won a huge victory on Friday with U.S. District Judge Stephen McGlynn’s order granting a preliminary injunction against the enforcement of Illinois’ ban on so-called assault weapons and large capacity magazines. McGlynn delivered a strong rebuke to the architects of the ban in his ruling, noting the Highland Park Independence Day was the impetus for the ban and wondering whether the “senseless crimes of a relative few be so despicable to justify the infringement of the constitutional rights of law-abiding individuals in hopes that such crimes will then abate or, at least, not be…
