The outdoor industry has been grappling with its use of PFAS — so-called forever chemicals — for years. As their toxic effects on wildlife and humans became more widely understood, conservation groups and customers pushed brands to eliminate these chemicals, which are often found in items like waterproof jackets. And now there’s a new potential source of PFAS in nature to contend with. This month, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved the use of isocycloseram, a compound classified along with other forever chemicals, for use as a pesticide on crops. What Are PFAS? PFAS are a kind of manmade chemical.…

Artificial intelligence, no matter how much the term doesn’t really apply to what we call AI, isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. For better or worse, it’s part of our lives now, and it’s up to us to try to figure out where it fits in. And it’s an interesting tool, to say the least. I’ve gotten a kick out of using it at times, though I’ve also seen where it gets a whole lot wrong and is less than trustworthy. But Frank Miniter over at America’s 1st Freedom did something interesting. He asked ChatGPT how to…

Star Trek icon George Takei opened with a Vulcan salute.Standing at the podium of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan in Tokyo on Nov. 20, the 88-year-old actor—best known to many service members as helmsman Hikaru Sulu from Star Trek—greeted a room full of reporters, students, and Trekkies. Then he pivoted from science fiction to something far more grounded: the day U.S. soldiers with bayonets showed up at his family’s Los Angeles home when he was five years old.“We were forced at gunpoint from our home,” he recalled, before describing how his family was shipped to Camp Rohwer in Arkansas and…

I still haven’t forgotten the eyes of the first animal I ever killed. When I was 10 years old, my dad took me dove hunting near our home in South Texas. This seemed a natural evolution, I imagine, given that he’d shown my brother and me how to handle his .370 rifle and 20-gauge shotgun. I took deep satisfaction from the few times we actually shot the guns, usually at tin cans and glass bottles my dad set up at a quarry. And when my parents got me a compound bow, I joyfully practiced on a bullseye set up in…

On January 20, 2026, the Supreme Court is slated to hear oral arguments in Wolford v. Lopez; the challenge to Hawaii’s “vampire rule” that prohibits concealed carry on all private property unless the property owner gives their express consent. Ordinarily, the justices would divide time between the plaintiffs and the defendants, but the Department of Justice is now requesting that the Court carve out a few minutes for the Trump administration to weigh in as well.  On Tuesday, Solicitor General D. John Sauer formally submitted the request to SCOTUS, noting that the U.S. government has…

Duston Mullen has served among countless smart minds throughout his years in the U.S. Marine Corps and Army National Guard. But the individuals he’s been among as part of a military fellowship program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are some of the most “advanced minds” he has ever come across.Mullen is one of three Military Fellows with more than 80 years of collective military experience who are partaking in a 12-month program overseen by the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL), as part of a partnership with the U.S. military that dates back to 2006. During the Battle of Midway, a crippled U.S. Army B-26 bomber flew so close over Japan’s flagship Akagi that its crew believed it was a suicide attack — years before Japan’s own “kamikaze” missions began.U.S. Army B-26 Bombers at MidwayOn the morning of June 4, 1942, four U.S. Army Air Forces B-26 Marauders from the 22nd Bombardment Group, 18th Reconnaissance Squadron, took off from Midway Island. Their mission was to launch Mark 13 torpedoes against the approaching Japanese carrier task force under Vice Adm. Chuichi Nagumo. The aircraft were designed for tactical bombing missions, not for low-altitude naval attacks with torpedoes. They…

The Second Amendment is rather unique in the world. While there are the odd countries that say they respect gun rights, such as Mexico, the reality is that there’s a ton of wiggle room in their constitutions that translates into, “We do, and we don’t…but mostly, we don’t.” As this piece is published, I can walk into a gun store, plop down the money, get the background check, and head home with my new gun. Others will have to wait for a few days or longer, but there’s a lot less “Mother, may I?” here…

In the final months of World War II, a small team of American commandos parachuted into the mountains of northern Vietnam to train Ho Chi Minh’s guerrillas to fight Japan. They were members of the OSS Deer Team, a short-lived mission that joined U.S. troops and Vietnamese revolutionaries against a common enemy—two decades before the United States would return to Vietnam as their adversary.OSS Missions in the Jungles of VietnamIn July 1945, the U.S. Office of Strategic Services—the wartime forerunner of the CIA—sent an eight-man special operations team into northern Indochina to link up with the Viet Minh, the nationalist resistance…

Getting an opportunity at a good deer requires a lot of time in the woods. Sometimes it’s not about how far you can go, but how long you can stay in the tree. It doesn’t matter how light your treestand or saddle is; if it’s not comfortable, you’ll dream up every reason to call it quits early. I’ve had the privilege of testing a ton of saddles. Most of them are comfortable, but the Latitude Outdoors Method 3 tops them all in that regard. No, it’s not the lightest saddle out there, but it’s definitely the most comfortable. If that…

In 2024, which was the first year that Minnesota’s “red flag” law was in effect, 138 petitions were filed. This year the state could see that number increase by 100% or more. As of November 15, 263 petitions have been filed across the state, and according to Fox 9 in Minneapolis, the vast majority of those have been approved.  The TV station reports that of the 401 petitions that have been filed since the law took effect, only 5% have been denied by a judge. That number isn’t necessarily surprising, but it is troubling. Are judges…

A judge’s determination last week that Delaware’s permit-to-purchase law is constitutional and can take effect has raised the ire of many within the gun-rights community, including the leader of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF). Delaware passed the permit-to-purchase scheme back in 2024, requiring citizens to first obtain a “handgun qualified purchaser permit” from the State Bureau of Identification before they can purchase a handgun. That means an eight-hour training class, live-fire qualification (about 100 rounds), fingerprinting and a state and federal background check before they ever get to the gun retail counter. The National Rifle Association quickly filed a…

In a historic first, the Department of Justice has filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court in a Second Amendment case that sides with plaintiffs challenging a gun control law.  The DOJ’s brief in Wolford v. Lopez, filed with the Supreme Court on Monday, argues that Hawaii’s law prohibiting lawful concealed carry by default on all private property effectively negates the right to keep and bear arms. As the Justice Department notes, before the Supreme Court struck down “may issue” carry regimes in Bruen, it was virtually impossible to obtain a license in Hawaii. Once…

This article was originally published by Michael Snyder at The End of the American Dream.  They are getting all of their ducks in a row for a war with Venezuela.  Do you think that it is just a coincidence that Southern Command just canceled leave for Thanksgiving and Christmas?  And do you think that it is just a coincidence that the Trump administration just designated “Cartel de los Soles” as a foreign terrorist organization? This is going to allow the Trump administration to take military action against Venezuela without formally declaring war.  As you will see below, so many of…

The Second Amendment isn’t just for people who express certain political shibboleths. It’s for every single American. Technically, it’s a human right that should extend across national borders, but most countries don’t see it that way. We do, and that’s part of what makes this nation so great.Wired, which tends to present gun rights as something to be freaked out about, at best, decided to do a little bit to look at it differently. They opted to focus on the hard left crowd that is into guns, which is fine. Then, of course, they became…
