Smith & Wesson just dropped a fresh take on their Shield series, and it’s built to check all the modern carry boxes.

The new M&P Shield X is a 9mm concealed carry pistol that mixes sub-compact dimensions with higher capacity and enhanced ergonomics.

MSRP: $599

The Shield X offers 13+1 and 15+1 capacity options, plus a 10+1 compliant model for folks in restricted states.

It comes with a 3.6-inch stainless-steel barrel, aggressive slide serrations front and rear, and a squared-off trigger guard with a front rail so you can add a light or laser.

The frame has also been reworked with a longer grip, undercut trigger guard, and extended beaver tail for better control and comfort — especially for those with bigger hands.

Sights are another upgrade. The Shield X comes standard with an Ameriglo Trooper night sight up front (with LumiGreen glow) and a blacked-out U-notch rear.

And yes, it’s optics-ready with an RMSc/K footprint and Smith & Wesson’s ClearSight™ Cut — which is designed to keep gas blowback off your red dot glass.

Grant Dubuc, Director of Product Innovation at Smith & Wesson, said the team focused heavily on improving the fit and feel across all hand sizes.

That meant slimming down key parts of the grip, raising the hand position, and borrowing frame tweaks from the Bodyguard 2.0.

Bottom line: it’s a carry pistol made for today’s market — more capacity, better ergonomics, and optic compatibility, without sacrificing concealability.
