Once upon a time, the places we turned to for entertainment largely tried to stay out of politics. OK, maybe not, but they were more subtle about a lot of it. They didn’t put up banners telling half the country to take a hike, then wonder why no one wants to watch what they put out.
Still, sports were different.
Yes, athletes had opinions, and they were more than willing to share them, but the teams themselves kept quiet, at least for the most part. They took non-controversial stands that the general public could get behind. They’d have “Support the Troops” night or something like that, something that even if someone disagreed, it wasn’t really going to stir up controversy.
Now, they don’t even care.
Today is Gun Violence Awareness Day.

Of course, this is “gun violence” versus gun control, but it’s gun control.
As AWR Hawkins notes at Breitbart, the whole “wear orange” thing is something spearheaded by groups operating under the Everytown umbrella. In other words, they’re actively supporting gun control by playing this particular game.
The issue of so-called gun violence is an issue, but “gun” should never have been the noun in that term. At most, it should have been treated as an adjective. The problem, though, is violence. Those committed with a firearm are a subset of the actual problem.
I promise you, no one feels better than their loved one was stabbed to death versus being shot. Hell, the opposite might actually be true, because violence committed with a knife tends to be more brutal and leads to more suffering before someone passes away. Not always, of course, but yeah, I’m not going to feel better because a knife was involved.
The problem is and has always been the violence part, but the White Sox and the Eagles seem to be willing to pretend otherwise.
Then again, this is the same White Sox organization that had an entire team fix the World Series, and the same Eagles franchise whose fans booed Santa Claus, so I probably should have expected better of them, though the White Sox’s sins are mostly in the distant past. Still, Chicago, so I guess it’s a wash there.
I used to be a big sports fan, as well as loving movies and TV. I rarely watch any of it today, and crap like this is why. I don’t need to be lectured by millionaires who make a living doing the same crap children do for fun. Especially when they don’t know what the hell they’re talking about on anything outside of how to make believe for a living or how to throw and catch a ball.
Editor’s Note: The radical Left will stop at nothing to enact their radical gun control agenda and strip us of our Second Amendment rights.
