When media behemoths in our corner are recognized, it’s a big deal. Radio host Mark Walters was named as a Talkers “Heavy Hundred” for the second year in a row!
Second Amendment-centered media does not always get a fair shake. Oftentimes other members of the media and/or journalists might label Second Amendment media personalities as being nothing more than activists. That unfair label follows many in this arena around. Any time someone in this niche market is recognized for their achievements is a call for celebration. Mark Walters, the host of acclaimed Armed American Radio show, was recently honored by Talkers Magazine as one of their Heavy Hundred.
Talkers Magazine’s Heavy Hundred is a who’s who of conservative and right of center radio. This is not just the gun world but out of all media genres. Some of the names listed on the 2026 Heavy Hundred list include Sean Hannity, Dave Ramsey, Dana Loesch, Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, and Lars Larson.
“This annual feature is created by the editors of TALKERS with input from industry leaders and ranks, from one to 100, the most important talk radio hosts in America based of several factors including (in alphabetical order): courage, effort, impact, longevity, potential, ratings, recognition, revenue, service, talent, and uniqueness,” is noted on the Talkers post about the 2026 list. “To be considered for inclusion on the Heavy Hundred, talk hosts must be working at the time of publication and have a regularly scheduled professional show on the air at a minimum of one terrestrial station or satellite radio station.”
Last year Walters was named for the first time on the list. This year, Walters ascended in his rankings from last year. In 2025 Walters occupied the 91st spot and this year he advanced to number 87.
In addition to being a nationally recognized and syndicated radio show host, Walters is also an advocate/activist who actively supports the Second Amendment. For many years he has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (along with Cam and myself).
“I’ve witnessed Mark grow over the years as a radio host and watched as he confidently found his voice,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “Seeing him get this honor two years in a row is something we’re all proud of Mark for, and we’re blessed to have talent like him on our leadership team at the Committee.”
“Every radio host in the country waits for the release of the Heavy Hundred list every summer wondering if they’ll ever see their name included,” Walters said in a statement. “Last year was a humbling experience in and of itself. To be recognized by your industry peers for your work is an incredible feeling. Two years in a row? I don’t even know what to say other than THANK YOU to all of my listeners and sponsors over the last 18 years who make it all possible! I’m literally honored beyond words.”
Bearing Arms also would like to congratulate Walters on this huge achievement. Editor Cam Edwards, who has known Walters for many years, has him on his show Cam and Company regularly. When asked about Walters’ achievement, Edwards said that “it’s great to see Mark get the recognition that he deserves” and described Walters as “a true champion of the Second Amendment and well deserving of being named one of the most impactful talk show hosts in the country.”
“Plus, he’s just a great host. I always have a good time when I’m on Armed American Radio,” Edwards added.
