Kimber is stepping into the modern era without ditching what made the 1911 iconic in the first place. The company just rolled out its Next Gen 1911 lineup, available in both Two-Tone and Stainless finishes—and these aren’t just cosmetic upgrades.
Built off the success of the 2K11, the new models are a tasteful fusion of old-school style and modern performance.
Let’s start with the looks: the Two-Tone version pairs a black Kimpro II slide with a satin silver stainless steel frame.
The Stainless model keeps it all brushed metal for that classic all-American shine. Both come with handsome black walnut grips featuring G10 inlays, which not only look sharp but offer solid grip in the hand.
But the real story is under the hood. These aren’t your granddad’s 1911s.
Both models feature an optic-ready slide, external extractor, and flat-topped serrated slides, giving shooters flexibility and faster follow-ups. Inside, the sloped disconnector ramp smooths out the action, while the GT Performance Trigger delivers a crisp 4–5 lb. pull—right in the sweet spot for carry and competition.
Available in 9mm and .45 ACP, each pistol sports a 5-inch crowned barrel, 9-round capacity, and a mil-spec guide rod. At 36.2 oz unloaded, they’re solid but still manageable.
Kimber also includes a red dot front sight and a fixed black rear sight on a C&H optic plate—another nod to today’s shooter who wants out-of-the-box performance without needing a trip to the gunsmith.
MSRP sits at $999, which puts this firmly in the “premium-but-not-insane” category for 1911 fans.
For shooters who’ve been craving a next-gen 1911 that respects tradition while embracing the 21st century, Kimber may have just dropped your new sidearm.
