Ubisoft continues to announce new features for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, with the latest tease changing how players will be able to explore the deep sea areas in the game. Although the existence of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced may have been one of the worst kept secrets before its eventual reveal, it seems likely that many may have underestimated just how many new features, fixes, and other quality of life improvements Ubisoft Singapore has made to the original game.

For most, the biggest change for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced was the move to the Anvil Engine, giving the original 2013 a major visual improvement. In fact, the engine switch also opened up new avenues for the team to dig into, including revamped combat and stealth. The parkour has also inherited all the improvements and updates made for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and some of the rougher edges of the original 2013 experience, namely the tailing and instant fail stealth missions, have been improved to allow greater player freedom, even if caught by the enemy. However, the team is also making a major change to how players can explore the open world sea as well.

In a recent interview with GamesRadar, technical director Jussi Markkanen confirmed that the deep sea diving elements in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced have been expanded to allow players to dive anywhere they see fit. Similar to previous games, players will now be able to find treasure and other items all over, though the traditional diving bell segments will still be available in Black Flag Resynced as well.

While the feature may not be the most exciting change when compared to many modern open world games, or even the past few games in this franchise. Either way, it does represent a major shift from the original game, which only featured the specific diving bell locations that would take players underwater. However, Ubisoft is also giving players a reason to explore, as Markkanen also confirmed that the team added new shipwrecks to find, some of which are located near the shorelines, as well as other little secrets for players to discover while playing.
