Two armed suspects are facing a long list of felony charges after police say they were shot by a homeowner during an apparent attempted robbery in Summerlin this week.
According to News 3 Las Vegas, the shooting happened Tuesday in the 800 block of Haven Oaks Place in Summerlin West. Police say the homeowner encountered two men who were allegedly attempting to rob him as they approached inside his garage.
Jail records identify the suspects as Connor Davis and Arqua Jenkins, both 29. Investigators say both men were armed at the time of the incident.
Following the shooting, Davis and Jenkins were arrested and booked on multiple serious charges, including attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, burglary while in possession of a gun or deadly weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon.
As of Wednesday, court records showed both suspects were still hospitalized from their injuries. Because of that, it remains unclear when either will make an in-person court appearance.
Police have not released the name of the homeowner, and authorities have not announced any charges against him at this time.
Nevada law allows the use of deadly force only under specific circumstances, including a reasonable belief of imminent danger. Legal experts note that simply seeing someone carrying a firearm is not enough to justify deadly force. But armed robbery inside or near a residence can dramatically change that legal analysis.
Investigators are continuing to review the circumstances of the shooting. But based on the charges filed so far, police appear to be treating the homeowner as the victim in an alleged violent crime.
The case remains under investigation. Stay tuned for updates.
