Armasight has introduced its new Pro Series, marking a full internal overhaul of its thermal optics lineup rather than a minor refresh. Built around a newly developed 640 Gen 4 core, the Pro Series reflects a ground-up redesign focused on faster processing, smoother performance, and improved overall image quality.
At the center of the update is a processor that is four times faster than previous generations, enabling 60 Hz refresh rates across the entire Pro Series line. The result is a noticeably smoother image with reduced lag, particularly when tracking moving targets or scanning dynamically.
Image processing and video handling have also been improved, producing higher-quality recordings with smaller file sizes compared to earlier models.
All Pro Series units now share a common performance baseline, featuring 12-micron, 640-resolution sensors with sensitivity rated below 20 mK, paired with a new 1920×1280 OLED display. The upgraded display delivers a sharper, more detailed image while maintaining consistency across weapon-mounted sights and clip-on models.
One of the most notable functional additions is integrated audio recording, made possible by a built-in microphone, something absent from previous Armasight thermals. Video and audio recording are supported while maintaining the platform’s IP67 waterproof rating, keeping the units fully sealed for field use.
Power is supplied by dual CR123 batteries, providing approximately 4–5 hours of runtime, with added flexibility through a sealed USB-C port that allows users to run external battery packs if desired. This hybrid approach supports both traditional battery swaps and external power solutions without locking users into proprietary systems.
Across the Pro Series, Armasight now standardizes on 640-resolution cores, eliminating lower-tier sensor options. Differences between models are primarily driven by form factor and user interface.
The Contractor Pro models feature large, tactile control knobs for easy manipulation with gloves, while the Commander models use lower-profile, recessed buttons and a quick-detach mount designed for fast attachment with solid return-to-zero. The Operator models serve as clip-on thermals, available in 35mm and 50mm configurations, with the 50mm rated for use in front of LPVOs up to 1–10x.
A key point emphasized at SHOT Show is that the Pro Series is fully American-made, including the thermal core. Design, manufacturing, and assembly all take place in Tempe, Arizona, addressing supply-chain concerns for military, law enforcement, and civilian users who prioritize domestic production.
Shipping is expected to begin later in Q2, with pricing projected to remain largely in line with previous Armasight offerings, despite the extensive internal upgrades.
With faster processing, standardized 640 performance, improved displays, and new audio-enabled recording, the Pro Series represents a significant step forward for Armasight’s thermal platform, focused on practical performance rather than cosmetic changes.
