A brand-new pair of skis can change your entire season. Especially if you find The Right Pair that matches your style, ability, and terrain preferences, it can unlock new levels of confidence and control. Plus, getting some rad new topsheet graphics under your feet is always a good feeling.

Most people only treat themselves to new skis every few years. But the Vermont-based ski brand Renoun is trying to turn that on its head. It’s launching a unique membership program this season, which sends customers a new pair of skis every year that they can swap for a different, brand-new pair whenever they want.

And that’s just the tip of the Renoun Pro membership program iceberg. Beyond the new skis and ability to swap them, the membership also buys you into an entire community of Renoun Pro members, accesses international ski trips, meetups, events, pro deals, limited-edition topsheet graphics, and social chat rooms to talk, make plans, or bounce ideas off of other Renoun Pro members.

“Renoun Pro is the world’s first premium membership for skiers. It’s a way to get access to top-tier skis,” Cyrus Schenk, the founder of Renoun, told GearJunkie. “But it’s also a way for Renoun Pro members to actually connect, meet other skiers, go skiing, or grab a drink.”

Starting on September 9, you can join the Renoun Pro membership program for $395 plus a monthly membership fee of $30. Then, Renoun will send you your first pair of skis. From there, you just have to get them mounted, hit the hills, and start engaging with your newfound community and all of its perks.

What Is Renoun?

Renoun is a boutique ski maker founded in 2014 in Burlington, Vt. All of its skis are hand-pressed in Quebec, Canada, and are sold direct-to-consumer (DTC). Renoun is one of the only carbon-neutral DTC ski brands today.

Its claim to fame is its “VibeStop” technology — non-Newtonian inserts that adapt the stiffness of its skis based on the terrain you’re on and the speed you’re skiing at. At faster speeds or on more variable terrain, the VibeStop hardens up, adding stiffness and stability. In softer snow and at lower cruising speeds, it allows for more flex.

I tested the Renoun Citadel 107 powder ski for GearJunkie last year and was really impressed. They became my go-to backcountry skis, and I even favored them for powder days at the resorts. Renoun also makes all-mountain and carving models of skis, all of which can be found on the brand’s website.

New Skis, ‘SwapAnytime’

A Renoun Pro membership offers a lot of things. But the main attraction is a new pair of skis every year, and a feature called “SwapAnytime.” If you aren’t satisfied with the ski you’re on, or just want to try a different one, you can swap yours out for a brand-new pair of skis. You pay $150, send your current pair back to Renoun, and they exchange it for a brand-new pair of your choice, anytime.

If you’re traveling and decide to swap your skis out while on a trip, Renoun can ship the new skis directly to your location. Renoun also partners with Ship Skis, so members can ship their own quiver of skis anywhere for 25% off.

What happens to all the used skis that people swap out? Almost anything except going into a landfill. Renoun has partnered with several nonprofit ski organizations, including New England Disabled Sports, Vermont Adaptive, Breckenridge Adaptive, and Wasatch Mountain Disabled Sports. When Renoun Pro members swap their used skis out, they can choose which program receives them.

“We make sure they’re in good shape to go back out, that they’re not rock skis,” Rob Golden, the CEO of Renoun, told GearJunkie. “And then we will tune them and send them back out to the charity.”

If you choose not to donate your used skis, Renoun can resell them through its secondhand distribution channels. It’s even in conversations with ski furniture companies that could turn unusable skis into chairs, tables, or benches. “We’re doing everything we can to make sure our skis don’t end up in a landfill,” Schenk said.

Free gear every year is just one of the Renoun Pro perks. Schenk and Golden described a halo of community benefits, trips, and events that are also core to the membership.

As part of Renoun Pro, people can sign up for annual all-inclusive ski trips organized through Eleven Experiences. Renoun books an entire lodge, provides gourmet meals from private chefs, après, transportation, and includes cat skiing, heli skiing, and both resort and backcountry skiing opportunities. In 2026, Renoun is planning a trip to Revelstoke, British Columbia, and a heli skiing trip in France.

Those trips can cost upward of $4,000 per person. But the Renoun Pro membership will also include more accessible events, like opportunities to ski with Renoun’s pro ambassadors, like Thor Retzlaff, casual ski meet-ups at local mountains for Renoun Pro members, and après-ski get-togethers.

Renoun Pro members also gain access to an app (with a desktop site) similar to a Facebook page. There, they can post their ski playlists, make plans to meet up with other members, request events in their area, and generally share hype for ski season. Golden said they want to gamify it, too, so whoever has the most vertical in a week or whoever shares the best ski playlist could win Renoun Pro prizes.

The membership even offers pro deals on gear through partnerships with brands like Carv, Ship Skis, Marker, Look Pivot, Salomon, TREW Gear, ATK, and others.

Renoun Pro Membership Value: ‘Not Just About Gear’

A pair of new Renoun skis costs between $900 and $1,100. If you buy a membership ($395 + $30 monthly membership fee), you’ll get a pair of Renoun skis for $755 that first year. If you swap the ski out once for $150, that cost rises to $905.

Clearly, the value is there, even without calculating in all of the community benefits and other perks of the membership. If you keep your membership year over year, it’s basically like buying a new pair of skis every season. But you can also cancel your membership at any time, according to Renoun. It might sound like a cellphone subscription, but Golden was adamant that that isn’t the right analogy or descriptor. That’s why Renoun Pro is a membership.

“A membership has to bring a lot more value than what it costs you to be part of it,” he said. “When you see everything that’s part of Renoun Pro — the trips, the community, the notion of experiences over possessions — then you realize it’s not just about gear.”

Renoun Pro launched on Sept. 9. You can read more and purchase your membership on the Renoun website.
