Germany has announced its plans to reinstate mandatory military service as the government seeks to boost its armed forces. Conscription has been suspended since 2011, but a new law set to take effect on January 1st, 2026, will begin with a voluntary model that could pave the way for a broader draft. Germany has been planning for war for quite some time, taking Ukraine’s side in the conflict with Russia. In fact, Chancellor Friedrich Merz has vowed to transform the German military into the “strongest conventional army in Europe.” According to a report by RT, German officials have set 2029…

The Supreme Court is already slated to consider a challenge to the ban on so-called assault weapons enacted by Cook County, Illinois at its December 5 conference, but the justices will soon have another case to examine as well.  On Monday the Second Amendment Foundation, Connecticut Citizens Defense League, and several individual plaintiffs filed a cert petition with SCOTUS in a lawsuit called Grant v. Rovella, seeking to overturn a Second Circuit Court of Appeals decision that upheld the validity of the semi-auto ban. As the plaintiffs argue, Connecticut’s ban encompasses “many ordinary and common semiautomatic…

The Nissan Sentra has been a steadfast sedan offering for 43 years. In fact, Nissan has sold some 6.5 million Sentras over nine generations since 1982. Fast forward to the present, and sedans of all sizes seem to be losing popularity in favor of endless hordes of crossovers. Nissan even axed its own Maxima sedan in 2023, and there’s a good chance the Altima and Versa won’t reappear for 2026. But, flying in the face of this sedan slaughtering, Nissan says it expects the compact sedan market to grow through fiscal year 2030. In terms of sedan sales, Nissan will…

I’m of the opinion that if someone is too dangerous to be trusted with their gun rights, they’re too dangerous to be walking among the rest of us. After all, violent people don’t need guns to kill others, so why are you letting them hobnob with the rest of us if they’re that dangerous even today? But the law sees it differently, and worse than that, it also keeps non-violent felons disarmed, even though their crimes had nothing at all to do with violence in the first place, and there’s usually no evidence they’ll become…

If you’re an avid whitewater kayaker, take note: Werner Paddles is recalling two of its latest kayak paddles. The paddles may break, posing a risk of drowning. On Nov. 9, Werner Paddles posted a notification that it’s recalling its Covert and Stealth downriver whitewater racing models of kayak paddles. The brand says, “We have identified an issue with the collar of the paddle where the blade meets the shaft.” Basically, the blade can break off from the shaft. GearJunkie confirmed with a Werner team paddler that this issue is due to a problem with the mold and is being addressed…

Last week voters in Maine overwhelmingly approved the establishment of a “red flag” law allowing police to temporarily seize legally owned firearms from anyone subject to an Extreme Risk Protection Order. The “red flag” referendum was opposed by Second Amendment groups, Gov. Janet Mills, and most Republican officials, but opponents were outspent almost 10-to-1 by backers of the gun control measure.  Now that the ERPO process will soon be the law of the land, several law enforcement groups are warning of the dangers and problems to come. “We respect the outcome of this election. But our…

On Sept. 15, 1918, Corporal Lee Duncan walked through the bombed-out ruins of a German camp near Flirey, France. There, he found a kennel that housed military working dogs meant for the German army. Most were dead, but he discovered a starving German shepherd mother with her litter of five newborn puppies. Their eyes hadn’t even opened yet. Duncan had no idea that one of those puppies would soon become the face of Hollywood and save a then-unknown film studio called Warner Bros. from bankruptcy. Read the full article here

By Jack Oller What does the consumer get when purchasing a new, modern-production shotgun? The answer became apparent after firing a few rounds of skeet to test the TriStar Raptor II. My shooting partner brought a 1970s-era Browning Auto-5, so we inevitably compared the two for function. The Auto-5 is, of course, the more desirable of the two among collectors, and it’s not really in the same class as the Raptor II, though both are semiautomatic field shotguns. However, the comparison highlighted the advancements in features and functions of modern shotguns. The TriStar Raptor II may appear similar to the…

This article was originally published by Lipton Matthews at The Mises Institute.  Donald Trump has been criticized heavily for cutting federal funding of science. Opponents claim that his decision threatens to undermine American innovation, weaken the nation’s economy, and diminish its global influence. Yet the assumption behind these complaints is rarely examined. It is taken for granted that the government must play a central role in supporting science if society is to progress. A closer inspection of historical experience, economic reasoning, and the actual dynamics of research reveals that this assumption is false. Innovation has flourished without state patronage, and government…

I really do try to understand where people are coming from politically. I think it helps me with trying to break down their arguments and address their points in a somewhat reasonable manner. I can’t, however, get into the heads of people who are so anti-ICE that they’re ready to inflict violence on them. It’s one thing to oppose the current immigration laws or to think that the way ICE addresses illegal immigration is too much, but violence? To say that’s a little excessive is putting it a bit mildly. What’s really amusing is how many of…

Colombian ruler Gustavo Petro has accused the United States of killing an innocent fisherman during what President Donald Trump described as a strike on a drug-smuggling vessel. The U.S. committed war crimes, attacking the boats and killing all on board, removing due process from civilians. According to Petro, a Colombian “lifelong fisherman” was killed in one of the attacks that occurred on September 16th. “US government officials have committed murder and violated our sovereignty in our territorial waters. Fisherman Alejandro Carranza had no ties to drug traffickers, and his daily activity was fishing,” Petro wrote on X on Saturday. He added that…

Have you ever thought about what would happen if a massive, long-term blackout were to affect the United States (or the world)? First, let’s clearly define what a ‘long-term blackout’ is in this case. This does not refer to a short-term power outage that affects your town or a regional area. A ‘long-term blackout’ in this case refers to a complete grid-down scenario where the electricity grid gets knocked out…and stays knocked out for weeks or months (or even longer). In other words, it refers to a world where we will be thrown back to the 19th century. We will have to…

Was the scope off, or was it the shooter? My first shot landed a few inches high and left of center — nearly four inches from the bull. My next shot just missed the lower-left edge. I figured the scope was on. I was getting closer, but needed more stability and better trigger control. Sitting at my shooting bench, I took several deep breaths, stretched my arms and shoulders, and did some finger flexing. I lined the reticle dead center, eased out half my breath, and as the heartbeat ended, I squeezed the trigger. My “firearm” was actually a crossbow:…

Like many people my age, I grew up with semi-autos. Revolvers were neat, but why carry a five- to six-shot revolver when I can toss a single-stack 9mm or SIG P365 style auto on my hip? I had always liked revolvers, but I had never seriously considered one. That is, until I did, and began carrying the S&W 432 UC. After carrying one and training with one, I realized the revolver had stuck around for a reason and that the concealed carry revolver had some serious advantages.  Today, we are going to dissect the advantages of a concealed carry revolver…

It is a 5-inch 9mm 1911 double stack, also known as a 2011 handgun. Unboxing From the Factory…
