There’s no doubt that Missouri is one of, if not the most, pro-gun states in the nation. I mean, this is a state that took sanctuary status for the Second Amendment and enshrined it into law via the Second Amendment Preservation Act. Unfortunately, that law was overturned by the courts, which cited the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution. (Cool, now do immigration sanctuary laws, guys.)Now, the state is once again considering how to bulk up its protections for the gun rights of Missourians, while trying not to cross the line where the law gets smacked…

The event brings together six regional Second Amendment organizations: Connecticut Citizens Defense League, Massachusetts Gun Owners’ Action League, Gun Owners of Maine, New Hampshire Firearms Coalition, Rhode Island 2nd Amendment Coalition, and Vermont Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs. Conference chair Holly Sullivan, who serves as CCRKBA Director, explained the strategic thinking behind the regional approach. “We wanted to create…

The Florida Department of Health’s officials have released an update on a measles outbreak at a university.  There have been 46 confirmed cases of measles across Collier County from January 1st to February 7th. Fifty-seven students at Ave Maria University are quarantined, so far, as the school works on providing free vaccinations to those who may want them.  The vigorous campaign to vaccinate the masses is being promoted as a way to protect the community. Local fire departments are also working closely with health officials to hand out vaccines. Collier County has said that the majority of the Ave Maria University…

Most flipper knives require a bit of actual flipping to open the blade. But with the WEKnife Speedliner, a late 2024 introduction designed by Tashi Bharucha, it’s more like pulling a trigger. WEKnife sent me a Speedliner Flipper Knife with a titanium handle around the holidays. I hadn’t sought it out, but it arrived with a brief note of thanks and carried my name on the handle. I didn’t think much of reviewing it until now, a couple of months later, as it has really earned a spot in my daily rotation. While the Speedliner seemed to garner a lukewarm…

New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment…and unconstitutional gun control. How is a state, with a population of just over two million people, always the vetting ground for gun control zealots’ bright ideas? Before legislation is handed over to legislators in “un-gun friendly” states like California, Illinois, New York and Washington, it always seems like gun control groups like Michael Bloomberg backed Everytown, or Giffords use New Mexico as a beta-test to see how much “they” can get away with before ending up arguing before SCOTUS.  Under the abysmal “leadership” of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, the answer to violence committed…

As I make my way around a hairpin left, a 30-degree slope enters my vision. Undeterred, I turn on X-mode and start to ascend. The Dunlop Grandtrek all-terrain tires momentarily slip and strain as I climb. But the 2026 Toyota BZ Woodland dutifully marches up the grade, greeting me with a stunning vista of rolling hills and avocado farms beneath me as the cobalt Pacific Ocean wafts in the distance. With 8.4 inches of ground clearance, standard all-wheel drive, and nearly 400 pound-feet of torque to play with, the bZ Woodland makes ventures like this comfortable. And, thankfully, I only…

New Mexico’s legislature is supposed to adjourn at noon on Thursday, and the next 48 hours are going to be a chaotic rush to move bills before the deadline. Gun owners and FFLs in the state got a small bit of good news early Tuesday morning, when a House committee delayed a vote on SB 17, but it’s still far too soon to declare victory.  The House Judiciary committee didn’t take up the sweeping gun ban and gun dealer bill until late Monday evening, and after about an hour of discussion decided to hold off…

In the quiet countryside of Polk County, Florida, long-range steel targets ring out past 500 yards and sometimes far beyond. According to a report from Gulf Coast News, civilians are training in what some describe as “military-style” skills at facilities like Bone Valley Industries, where retired Air Force two-star Gen. Rick “RB” Mattson is now a co-owner. What used to be considered an impressive 500-yard shot, Mattson says, is no longer unusual. Modern rifles, optics, and training have expanded civilian capability dramatically (don’t we know it!). Sharing the same grounds is another company, Barrel & Hatchet, owned in part by…

Zero Compromise Optics debuts the ZC420 Hunter, a lighter and slimmer 4-20x scope redesigned for scabbards, packs, and real-world hunting. Weighing 20% less than the original ZC420, this optic punches way above its weight class. A Leaner Take on the ZC420 Zero Compromise Optics trimmed down its flagship 4-20x platform and aimed it squarely at hunters. The ZC420 Hunter drops weight by up to 20 percent compared to the original ZC420. That change comes from multiple small revisions rather than one big change. Everything that makes the ZC420 so amazing is still present in the ZC420 Hunter, though. Zero Compromise…

MDT DRT Chassis launches as a 3.2-pound magnesium hunting chassis built for night vision and thermal setups. Designed specifically for predator hunters, it targets weight creep from modern night-hunting gear. At SHOT Show 2026, MDT positions the DRT as a purpose-built solution rather than a crossover chassis. As a result, it focuses on strength, mounting stability, and field efficiency after dark. Built for Night Hunting from the Start SHOT Show always brings new ideas, but the MDT DRT Chassis feels targeted. Instead of adapting a competition chassis, MDT started fresh. The goal was clear. Night hunters keep adding gear, and…

LOWA’s story starts in Bavaria more than a century ago, and that heritage still defines how the company designs footwear today. These are boots and shoes built deliberately, meant to last, and, importantly, be serviced rather than discarded. In a market full of disposable footwear, LOWA still thinks long‑term. Tibet EVO 200 GTX Hi MSRP: $510 The Tibet EVO 200 GTX Hi is an 8‑inch, insulated mountain boot designed for cold‑weather work without becoming a sweat box. Instead of Thinsulate, LOWA uses PrimaLoft insulation, which performs more consistently across a wide temperature range and breathes better during high output. It’s…

Rideout Arsenal recently launched the Dragon pistol, a lever-delayed, modular 9mm with an ultra-low bore axis and fixed barrel aimed squarely at competition shooters. This pistol is what I imagined could be produced if you went to an engineer who had never seen a modern handgun and asked them to design one. And I mean this in the best way. A New Approach to Competition Pistols Rideout Arsenal doesn’t frame the Dragon as a duty gun or casual range toy. The company built it to go fast. The pistol uses a lever-delayed blowback system instead of gas operation, which reduces…
