The Florida Department of Health’s officials have released an update on a measles outbreak at a university.  There have been 46 confirmed cases of measles across Collier County from January 1st to February 7th. Fifty-seven students at Ave Maria University are quarantined, so far, as the school works on providing free vaccinations to those who may want them.  The vigorous campaign to vaccinate the masses is being promoted as a way to protect the community. Local fire departments are also working closely with health officials to hand out vaccines. Collier County has said that the majority of the Ave Maria University…

Most flipper knives require a bit of actual flipping to open the blade. But with the WEKnife Speedliner, a late 2024 introduction designed by Tashi Bharucha, it’s more like pulling a trigger. WEKnife sent me a Speedliner Flipper Knife with a titanium handle around the holidays. I hadn’t sought it out, but it arrived with a brief note of thanks and carried my name on the handle. I didn’t think much of reviewing it until now, a couple of months later, as it has really earned a spot in my daily rotation. While the Speedliner seemed to garner a lukewarm…

New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment…and unconstitutional gun control. How is a state, with a population of just over two million people, always the vetting ground for gun control zealots’ bright ideas? Before legislation is handed over to legislators in “un-gun friendly” states like California, Illinois, New York and Washington, it always seems like gun control groups like Michael Bloomberg backed Everytown, or Giffords use New Mexico as a beta-test to see how much “they” can get away with before ending up arguing before SCOTUS.  Under the abysmal “leadership” of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, the answer to violence committed…

In only the second event of the Bassmaster Elite Series 2026 season, a rookie took home the trophy. With a win by a mere 1.5 pounds on the Bassmaster Elite Series at Lake Martin, Fisher Anaya continued the trend of young, hot anglers dominating professional bass fishing. The Elite series newcomer ended the weekend with a blue trophy and a $100K paycheck. “This feels awesome,” Anaya said. “I didn’t know if I’d ever win one of these. My buddy Gerald Swindle always tells me it’s not easy to win one of these, so if you get a shot to win, you better…

The idiotic game of “ding dong ditch” has been around a lot longer than the last few years. Friends of mine were fond of the game when I was growing up, all too many years ago. You basically just knock on a door or ring a doorbell, then take off running. It annoys the homeowner, it gives kids a bit of a thrill, but ultimately, no harm is done. It’s like calling someone and asking if their refrigerator is running. These days, some have tried to liken the game to others kicking doors like they’re trying to…

In the quiet countryside of Polk County, Florida, long-range steel targets ring out past 500 yards and sometimes far beyond. According to a report from Gulf Coast News, civilians are training in what some describe as “military-style” skills at facilities like Bone Valley Industries, where retired Air Force two-star Gen. Rick “RB” Mattson is now a co-owner. What used to be considered an impressive 500-yard shot, Mattson says, is no longer unusual. Modern rifles, optics, and training have expanded civilian capability dramatically (don’t we know it!). Sharing the same grounds is another company, Barrel & Hatchet, owned in part by…

The senseless shooting at a Rhode Island hockey rink on Monday afternoon was a targeted attack by a transgender man intent on killing his family, according to police. The suspect, who died at the scene after shooting his ex-wife and kids, had a history of conflict with his family over his gender identify, and an online profile believed to be that of the suspect is full of references to transgenders acting violently in response to discrimination or belittling comments.  While some folks will want to pin the blame for the shooting on the fact that…

Following the Bondi Beach massacre, Australia did what anti-gunners always do. They look at how to restrict guns even farther than they’ve already been restricted. Australia was touted for having one of the most effective gun control schemes, yet it didn’t stop Bondi Beach from happening, so clearly, the answer is to be even more restrictive, right? One of the restrictions in place, among many, is a limit on how many guns a person can own.New laws will be introduced by the ACT government this week restricting the number of guns licence holders can own and…

United States ruler Donald Trump has ordered the Department of Homeland Security not to help Democrat-run cities during anti-ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) riots. Trump has said that agents of the state will only protect federal property. This is just more evidence that the ruling class is not there to help anyone but themselves. We are running out of time. The “National Shutdown” was called on Friday and aimed at pressuring the government to end immigration raids. Organizers are urging Americans to abstain from work, school, and shopping in a mass strike against the ruling class for its authoritarian grip. In…

Henri Rivers has been skiing since he was 1 year old, but he never expected to become an Olympic ski racer by age 18. Soon, though, he’ll be headed to Milano-Cortina to compete against the best skiers in the sport on a world stage — for Jamaica. Born in Brooklyn and raised by two ski-instructor parents, Rivers and his twin sisters have been involved in skiing their entire lives. The Rivers’ father (Henri Sr.) is a lifelong skier, himself, and the president of the National Brotherhood of Snowsports (NBS). He introduced their mother to the sport after she immigrated from…

The Hawaii Senate Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs will meet this afternoon, and its agenda includes a trio of eye-popping gun control bills designed to curtail the right to keep and bear arms.  SB 2720 doesn’t have one of those cutesy titles like “Keep Hawaii Safe From Scary Black Rifles” (at least as of yet), but it should be called the Gun Maker Extortion Act. The bill would require any firearms company that wants to sell its products in the state to pay into something called the “Firearm Injury Restitution Fund” and possess…

As I sat on a glassing knob in Wyoming overlooking a deep canyon, the wind kicked up, and I started shivering. It had been a slower day of hunting, and we were hunkering in for the last stand of the day. It was time to bundle up and settle in. I pulled the Kifaru Pointe Synthetic Puffy jacket from my day pack and threw it on. Within minutes, the shivering stopped. The sun dipped below the horizon, dropping temperatures further, but the jacket kept me nice and toasty as I watched a few mule deer on a distant hillside. We…

There’s a certain hypocrisy in lawmakers who say they’re pro-gun, and who pass pro-gun laws, but then try to hide behind metal detectors and gun-free zone signs. Yeah, I know that I sound a little like an anti-gunner with that particular line, but they have a point on this one. When you’re pro-gun, you don’t fear law-abiding gun owners. There’s no need to, because you know they don’t represent a threat to you or yours. In Nebraska, they’ve covered a fair bit of pro-gun ground in recent years, but there’s more work to be done.Instead of…

In order to avoid a humanitarian crisis, Cuba needs to strike a deal with the United States ruling class, said President Donald Trump issuing an ultimatum. Things are looking “very bad” for the Caribbean nation now that it has lost access to Venezuelan oil, Trump said. The Financial Times [behind a paywall] claimed earlier that Cuba only has enough oil to last 15 to 20 days at the current level of demand and domestic production. After Attacking Venezuela, Trump Threatens 3 More Latin Countries This most recent ultimatum comes just one month after the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro…

When you think of full-size over-ear headphones, you usually think of long flights or a quiet desk — not a high-intensity workout where you’re dripping sweat, your lungs are searching for oxygen, and your brain is looking for any excuse to quit. Usually, I’d tell you that mental grit is the only way through. But after a few weeks with the Skullcandy Crusher 540 Active ($210), I’ve found a pretty compelling alternative: sheer, skull-rattling haptic vibrations. Since I’m often coaching, I don’t usually wear headphones to work out. But I made a point of doing some solo lifting to see…

I moved from Washington State to Georgia several years ago. The driving factor was the oppressive gun control laws that began passing in the state legislature. I tried to encourage people, register, and educate voters, speak at both rallies and at the Capitol, and I even sued the state over a Democrat led voter initiative of a barrage of 2A infringements.  Another major reason was that I was simply tired of Conservatives and RINO politicians that easily capitulated to the press of Washington state Leftist policies. Sadly, this also trickled down to conservative voters, who…

Thru-hiking can be a life-changing experience, but it’s also an expensive one. Completing the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) costs about $10,000, and the Appalachian Trail (AT) isn’t much cheaper, clocking in at around $7,000. With a thru-hike averaging about $1,200 a month, the high financial barrier can keep otherwise eager hikers from taking on these trails. But don’t worry — if you’re in sticker shock, you’ve got options. Many outdoor gear brands have seized upon the growing popularity of thru-hiking as a marketing opportunity, taking on ambassadors or sponsored hikers each year and doling out free gear (and sometimes cash).…

The midterms are going to be close. Historically, the president’s party loses ground in the midterms, and with the margins so thin in the House, that’s the last thing President Trump and the Republican Party need. It’s the last thing the Second Amendment needs, also, because while Trump is unlikely to sign any gun control into law, there are still a lot of federal measures that need to be undone. That’s not going to happen if Democrats take one or both chambers later this year.So turnout is going to be important, but in the wake…
