Everytown for Gun Safety is not the organization I’d go to for practical advice on using a firearm. They’re not big fans of you even owning one, much less pulling the trigger, and it’s only a matter of time before they actually admit it.
But for years, we’d hit them over the “gun safety” nonsense by pointing out that their view of “gun safety” was just gun control, and we knew it because they made no effort to actually teach gun safety.
Then they did, and it was hilarious.
Now, it seems they’re teaching a gun safety course for hunters, or, as I describe hunters who take it, the Fuddiest Fudds who ever Fudded.
No, I didn’t take it. I have no interest in losing my will to live.
We have Lee Williams willing to jump on that grenade for us.
Everytown for Gun Safety now offers what they call a “hunter’s course.” Its main goal is propaganda, not safety. They want to stop gun ownership before it starts by misleading their “students” with false data.
“Like every other Train SMART course, Gun Safety for Hunters is backed by data and taught by experts—in this case, hunters with decades of experience who are deeply committed to gun safety and driven to help reduce the number of hunting-related gun deaths and injuries. A 2024 study revealed a stark reality: More people in rural counties were killed by gunfire in the first week of deer hunting season than in any other week of the calendar year,” Everytown claims on its TRAIN SMART website.
First, let’s take a look at the study Everytown is pimping, and then we’ll take a look at some of their “experts” who are teaching their new course.
The 2024 study Everytown cites, “Deer Hunting Season and Firearm Violence in US Rural Counties,” was written by Patrick Sharkey, PhD; Juan Camilo Cristancho, BA, and Daniel Semenza, PhD.
It’s a BS study, and we all know it. Lee gets into why, and you should read it because it’s worth it.
But there are other issues, and they’re not surprising.
Everytown’s hunter’s course is taught online by the same eight instructors it uses for its other TRAIN SMART courses.
There’s Stephanie, who “owns a gun for protection.”
There’s Craig, whose “earliest and fondest memories involved shooting BB guns with his father and grandfather.”
And don’t forget Dan, who taught “strategic and operational planning, leadership, and unconventional warfare at the Swedish Defense University in Stockholm.”
None of the instructors provided their last names, their credentials or even where they were trained, but they are all beautiful people and very diverse, which is probably much more important to the folks at Everytown than their CVs.
I’ve always believed you shouldn’t get training from an instructor whose credentials you cannot verify.
To say that goes double for an online class from an anti-gun group where the “instructors” can’t even give you their last name, much less provide any reason they’re experts beyond Everytown saying so. Studying unconventional warfare at a Swedish school doesn’t make you an expert on gun safety, hunting, or gun safety while hunting.
Like Williams points out, they’re attractive and very diverse. That probably is what mattered, because it’s impossible for someone who would take one of Everytown’s “classes” to pay attention to the material if there’s not someone who looks like them on the screen. Diversity is very important because people with guns and childish attitudes about race are totally acceptable to the Left, but only if they’re of the right race.
Honestly, it’s laughable that they think anyone but a Fudd would take this unironically.
I’d rather dig a canal with my toenails.
Editor’s Note: The radical Left will stop at nothing to enact their extreme gun control agenda and strip us of our Second Amendment rights.
