Sir David Attenborough turned 100 on Friday, May 8, and the birthday tributes came from just about everywhere. Broadcasters, museums, conservation groups, and fans around the world marked the milestone for a man whose career has helped define modern wildlife storytelling.

LEGO found a more specific way to join in.

Some LEGO Classic sets list an age range of 4–99, including the Large Creative Brick Box. That meant Attenborough, at least technically, has just aged out of the range printed on the box.

LEGO marked the occasion with a social post showing the age range updated to 4–100+. The post read, “Happy 100th birthday, Sir David Attenborough. There’s no age limit for those who never stop playing.” The image also included the line, “Updated for you, Sir David.”

Attenborough was born on May 8, 1926, and his BBC career began in the early 1950s. His breakthrough came with “Life on Earth” in 1979, and his later work includes “The Blue Planet,” “Frozen Planet,” and “Dynasties.”

His documentaries have helped generations understand wildlife, animal behavior, biodiversity, climate change, and plastic pollution.

In a birthday message released by the BBC, Attenborough said he expected to celebrate quietly, but had been “completely overwhelmed” by messages from preschool groups, care home residents, families, and people of all ages.
