There are a lot of attempts to demonize Glock and other striker-fired handguns. Connecticut just passed a bill banning them in the state, all because the company built a gun that a third party figured out how to turn into a machine pistol. The device that does it is banned under federal law and is classified as a machine gun itself, but that doesn’t seem to matter to anyone on the anti-gun side of things.
Also banned is for kids buying guns.
I don’t mean young adults, either, but actual juveniles, yet a gaggle of them in Saint Louis just got busted for not simply having firearms, but full-auto switch-equipped firearms.
St. Louis police say a routine patrol in Jeff‑Vander‑Lou turned tense fast when District 4 officers heard what sounded like automatic gunfire, then spotted three armed teenagers sprinting away.
According to a Tuesday update from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (OFFICIAL), officers in the north St. Louis neighborhood detained three 17‑year‑olds after they heard the rapid gunfire, then saw “three teens running on foot armed with firearms.”
Officers later recovered two handguns that had been fitted with auto‑sear switches, parts the department said made the weapons function as fully automatic firearms. All three juveniles were taken into custody and held at the juvenile detention center. The department’s post said surveillance footage showed the youths firing the guns and included photos of the seized weapons.
Sure enough, two of the three guns are Glocks.
However, let’s keep in mind that children can’t lawfully buy guns, so these were criminally obtained. Big shock, right?
So if criminals are getting guns, and full-auto switches are also illegal, what’s the surprise that they’d equip their guns with these devices?
The criminal mind is a bizarrely fascinating thing. These are people who blow off education and anything that we might equate with knowledge, yet they all seem to think they’re too smart to get caught, despite all evidence to the contrary.
They don’t follow gun laws because they don’t think they’re going to get caught with a gun. If they’re not going to get caught with a gun, why not put a federally prohibited device they can order from China and have mailed to their house on there, too?
While everyone is freaking out about Glock and how they can accept the switches, no one seems all that interested in the underlying problem, that criminals are being criminals. A law-abiding person can be trusted with a freaking live rocket launcher and they will never intentionally hurt a soul with it. Some junk cars might get blown up on a range somewhere, but no one is going to hurt anyone else on purpose unless it’s in self-defense, and that’s even unlikely.
But when criminals get involved, anything can be dangerous.
In this case, they’re getting switches from illegal makers — possibly themselves, since they can apparently be 3D-printed — or they’re ordering them off some Chinese website right next to the “solvent traps” that totally aren’t suppressors.
And when you’re dealing with people who don’t care about the laws, do you really think they’ll object to arming kids with any of this?
It’s well past time for anti-gunners to wake up and recognize how little all their precious laws actually accomplish.
Unless, of course, they’re accomplishing what they really want, which is to interfere with us.
