Last week, Cam wrote about the media in Minnesota trying to play anti-gun activists with their reporting of testimony regarding the slate of gun control bills being discussed. It’s a VIP piece, but there’s a link down below with a hell of a deal on a membership. You should check it out.

Anyway, the games in Minnesota.

Yeah, the media being so overt in its anti-gun sympathies was pretty bad, but it gets worse.

At least one of the people slated to testify reports that even the lawmakers were trying to play games.

A Second Amendment expert is accusing Minnesota Democrats of attempting to sideline policy advocates as they push for passage of a pair of gun control bills, arguing the lawmakers are leaning on emotional appeals instead of debating the measures’ real-world impact.

Amy Swearer, a senior legal fellow at Advancing American Freedom who specializes in gun policy, told Fox News Digital in an interview that Democratic members of a Minnesota House panel appeared to arbitrarily reject her written testimony ahead of a key hearing on the bills and resisted allowing her to testify in person. Swearer was ultimately able to testify for about two minutes.

“I think really at the core of it, that’s what they wanted to avoid, to the extent that they could keep this focused on the Annunciation shooting, and to prevent people like myself from coming in and saying, well, first of all, these policies would not have prevented a single death,” Swearer said.

Democratic offices of the committee did not respond to multiple requests for comments since Friday.

And, honestly, Swearer has a point. We know that none of the measures that were proposed would have done a single thing to save lives at the school. Not a single thing.

But more to her point, there’s ample reason to believe she’s right about where the focus was intended to be.

The hearing included heavy moments during which parents of victims and victims themselves of last year’s shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis testified in support of the bills. The shooter, who later died by suicide, killed two young children and injured more than two dozen others.

“Parents in our community don’t sleep all the way through the night anymore,” Jackie Flavin, who lost her 10-year-old daughter Harper in the shooting, testified. “Because when we send our children out into the world, we know that there are weapons out there capable of turning an ordinary morning into something unthinkable in seconds.”

I can’t imagine what it’s like to lose your child, especially at such a young of an age.

But it seems odd that specific written testimony dealing with the policies themselves was rejected, but there was more than enough time for emotional chats with a parent who lost a child, but had no other expertise to offer.

Strange, don’t you think?

The truth is that anti-gun lawmakers did everything they could to make sure the fix was in, only for it to fail yet again.

Swearer has testified before various legislative bodies for years. She knows how things are supposed to work, and she’s never raised an issue in any of those cases like this. When she tells us that they rejected her written testimony, it’s unlikely it was because she formatted it wrong or something like that.

It’s because they didn’t want her written testimony on the record. After all, it would shatter the narrative they were trying to build.

Couple that with the anti-gun media coverage Cam wrote about last week, and to call the whole thing shady would be an insult to the hard work of trees.

Anti-gunners likely know they can’t win on a truly even playing field–we see that from where the impact of money in election cycles–so they have to stack the deck in their favor. They have to make sure no one can see the other side of the argument because, if they did, they wouldn’t side with the anti-gunners.

For a group that also tries to pretend they’re all about democracy, they don’t have a lot of faith in the voters, do they?
