Top military spouse employers understand them better than you think. They recognize military spouses want to get hired now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Right now.

Top military spouse employers understand that Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Space Force spouses want to belong to great teams, just like their service members. These military spouse job seekers want careers they can build over time with opportunities for raises and advancement. They are not looking for handouts.

Military spouses also need one more thing: They want their jobs to be flexible enough to move. That takes a top military spouse employer.

We are thrilled to present Military.com’s Top Military Spouse Employers for 2025. In a year when so many workers feel unappreciated and uncertain, our top military spouse employers are looking to hire, promote and retain spouses worldwide.

The Winning Traits of Top Military Spouse Employers

When selecting our Military.com Top Military Spouse Employers for 2025, we were influenced by the 4+1 Commitment: The Formula for Military Spouse Success, presented by Blue Star Families and Hiring Our Heroes in partnership with the Department of Defense Military Spouse Employment Partnership.

In addition to facilitating job transferability, offering remote or telework, flexible work hours and providing permanent change-of-station (PCS) leave, the 4+1 commitment asks that employers consider joining an existing government-sponsored spouse employment program such as Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP), ACP Spouse Program and Hiring Our Heroes,

By partnering with government-sponsored spouse employment programs, military spouses have access to a central location to look for spouse-friendly employers, saving them time and aggravation.

We invited employers to take our survey in March, and more than 50 applied. In addition to answering the questions, we invited them to send hero stories about their employees and recruiters. In reviewing the results, certain factors stood out:

1. Employ Military Spouses to Find Military Spouses

Over and over, we were impressed with hiring teams that include military spouses as recruiters, both at live hiring events and online. These award-winning recruiters were motivated to go above and beyond for their fellow military spouse applicants. These recruiters are the secret source to spouse employment as they help with resumes, give specific interview tips for their companies and coach hiring managers.

Job-seeker tip: When looking for a job at a top military spouse employer, be sure to indicate that you are a military spouse. Several firms told us that accounting for spouses was complicated when they don’t know whether the applicant is a military spouse.

2. Hire Military Spouses Every Year and Retain Them

All our employers hired military spouses this year. It isn’t enough to give lip service to hiring military spouses; you must put them under contract. Some smaller organizations such as United Through Reading had only four military spouse hires, but bigger companies such as T-Mobile had more than 500 spouse hires last year. Other organizations, among them the Armed Services YMCA, are tracking total spouse hires over time and have demonstrated that military spouses comprise 27% of their staff, up 9% from last year.

Job-seeker tip: Be sure to list how you meet the basic qualifications of the job on your resume. Use our clear and easy template so the recruiter or hiring manager can find you. Take our free Checklist Resume for Spouses master class to learn how to make this super easy.

3. Offer Hybrid or Remote Work

Military spouses are going to move. Most of our Top Spouse Employers offer hybrid or remote work, which is most desirable to spouse employees. Guilt-free flexibility is the benefit spouses need most.

The exception, of course, is the medical providers on our list since workers must be present to do the actual work. We gave extra credit to employers with spouses employed overseas — the most challenging place for military spouses to find work.

Job-seeker tip: If you worked hybrid or remote in the past, include a bullet point about your stellar record for reliability. That trait goes nicely with the other ones our employers prefer, including adaptability, flexibility, loyalty and resilience.

4. Think Long Term

This year, our favorite military spouse employers gave us details about their programs to keep spouses working long term despite permanent change-of-station, or PCS, moves. For example, in addition to training, certifications and professional development tools, Navy Federal Credit Union developed a Military Spouse Career Continuity program to help spouses adjust their career plans when faced with relocation orders.

We asked the employers to tell us in their own words what military spouses need to know about getting hired at their company. Here is what we found:
