Streamlight introduced the TLR-8 HL-X for SHOT Show 2025. This is a new high-power compact pistol light/laser combo based on the original TLR-8.
Ever since Streamlight started rolling out the new HL-X series of lights I have been waiting for them to update the TLR-8.
I have wanted to add a laser to my Flux Raider X and replace its current light, the TLR-7 HL-X. The 8 HL-X would be perfect since it would barely change my current setup.
What sets the new version apart from the original TLR-8 is the rechargeable SL-B9 battery and updated emitter assembly.
Having a removable rechargeable battery is a definite advantage for a weapon light. I can periodically top off the charge to be sure I have plenty of juice. And if I need to hot-swap in the field, CR123a batteries will still work in the light but with a lower output.
- SL-B9: 1,000 lumens; 22,000 candela; 297m beam; runs 30 minutes (default) or programmable to 500 lumens; 11,000 candela; 210m beam; runs 1 hour
- CR123A: 500 lumens; 11,000 candela; 210m beam; runs 1.5 hours
The emitter and bezel are also redesigned to produce a more powerful and tighter beam. Compared to the original, the HL-X model has more candela, which helps push the beam further.
All in all, I think this light will be another useful addition to the Streamlight catalog. Visit Streamlight’s Website for more information on the TLR-8 HL-X or to find a dealer near you (No price was listed yet).
