Staccato has launched its all-new HD family of pistols, bringing two fresh options to the 2011 platform: the HD P4 and P4.5.
Compatible with Glock-pattern magazines, being optic-ready, and utilizing a mechanical firing pin block for added safety, these pistols have caught my eye.
Also after feeling them on the SHOT Show expo floor, I have to say they fit my hands like a dream.

Magazine Compatibility
One of the most interesting features of the new Staccato HD family is its compatibility with Glock-pattern magazines. Both the P4 and P4.5 models can accept Glock 17-style magazines. This makes them a versatile choice for shooters who already use Glock platforms.
Additionally, each pistol comes with two 18-round heat-treated carbon steel Mec-Gar Glock pattern magazines. These utilize an anti-friction black coating straight from Staccato.
The ability to use Glock-pattern mags offers affordability and availability. This design choice is an attractive option for those looking to streamline their gear without sacrificing performance.
Host Mounting System
A standout feature is the new HOST direct optic mounting system, which allows popular optics to be mounted directly onto the slide without a plate, securing them with larger, more robust screws.
This design offers a more stable attachment, perfect for those seeking rugged reliability. It also lowers the center of gravity ever so slightly by removing an optic plate which helps minimize muzzle rise.
Ergonomics and Design
Ergonomics got a major upgrade with a narrower grip, a higher beavertail, and more aggressive slide serrations. The HD family also eliminates the grip safety, giving a more traditional carry gun experience.
Safety and Durability
For added reliability, both the P4 and P4.5 come with a mechanical firing pin block. This enhances safety in case the pistol is ever to be dropped.
These models are also fully ambidextrous, with dual-side safety and slide-stop levers. They also feature mirrored controls that ensure left- and right-handed shooters have an equal experience.
