In a recent discussion on NewsMax’s “Greg Kelly Reports”, law enforcement officials and crime experts voiced serious concerns about the ongoing issues tied to illegal immigration and the nation’s open border policies.
The conversation focused on how these policies are allowing dangerous individuals into the country, endangering the safety of American citizens.
“Each day, the border allows unvetted and dangerous individuals into the country, and that endangers all Americans,” Kelly noted, referencing a series of crimes committed by illegal migrants.
One particularly alarming case involved a Bolivian migrant, who was arrested by ICE in Virginia for committing sex crimes against a child.
“This is another horrific crime that the Biden-Harris administration is responsible for,” Kelly said. This individual had previously been released at the Texas border in 2023 and was only apprehended after committing another crime against a minor.
Sheriff Mike Bud, of the California State Sheriff’s Association, discussed the challenges law enforcement faces in dealing with the consequences of an open border.
“These news stories are becoming more and more commonplace, where illegal immigrants are committing violent and sexual crimes against American citizens. Yet, we hear nothing from the White House,” he emphasized.
The strain on resources for local law enforcement is also a growing issue. Bud shared examples from his county, including a Chinese sex trafficking ring involving over 40 women.
He also mentioned other crimes such as financial fraud targeting the elderly.
“And so not only do we have these violent, egregious sexual crimes taking place, where the administration is not voicing any opinion whatsoever, much less securing and closing our border, but yet we have these untold amounts of other crimes that are occurring amongst our citizens. It’s truly an outrage,” he said.
John Lott Jr., president of the Crime Prevention Research Center, highlighted the broader crime surge under the current administration.
“During the Biden Administration, there’s been a 43% increase in violent crime and an even larger percentage increase in property crime,” Lott explained.
He also pointed out the disparity between FBI data on reported crimes and the actual crime rates, which are much higher due to underreporting as arrest rates have plummeted.
Lott underscored how arrest rates in large cities have dropped significantly—over 50% for violent crimes and 65% for property crimes.
“These are huge drops,” Lott observed. “So it’s not just the fact that you’ve had illegals that are causing an increase in violent crime, but the fact that law enforcement in many parts of this country has collapsed.”
Sheriff Bud added his frustration with Vice President Kamala Harris’s inaction, despite her past title as the “Border Czar.”
“We need to take action,” Bud said, noting that the resources of Border Patrol agents and Homeland Security agents are stretched thin, while law enforcement faces increased risks daily.
As border security remains a hot-button issue, the Biden-Harris administration continues to face criticism for its lack of meaningful action, leaving local law enforcement to deal with the consequences.
