A mother shot a convicted child predator when she discovered him attempting to sexually assault her 12-year-old daughter at a hotel in Indianapolis on Saturday.

According to court documents and local media, the incident occurred at the Baymont Inn on Eagle View Drive. The mother temporarily stepped out of the hotel room to carry bags to her vehicle, leaving her daughter momentarily alone with Bruce Pierce, 39, who she had recently met.

An armed mother shot a convicted sexual predator last Saturday.

When the mother returned, she allegedly found Pierce holding a gun and in the act of assaulting her daughter. Acting immediately, she drew her own firearm and shot Pierce. The mother and daughter fled the scene briefly, calling police before quickly returning to cooperate fully with investigators.

Pierce sustained critical injuries and remains hospitalized. Authorities issued a warrant for his arrest on charges including attempted rape, attempted child molestation, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, and confinement of a victim under 14 years old.

This wasn’t Pierce’s first violent offense. He is listed as a “sexually violent predator” by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Records indicate previous convictions for child molestation dating back to 2016, with multiple prison sentences served.

Second Amendment advocate Colion Noir commented strongly on the incident, highlighting the flaws in gun control measures.

“How does a three-time convicted child predator get his hands on a firearm? Because he’s a criminal,” Noir stated. “He doesn’t care about background checks or gun-free zones. The only thing that stopped him was a mother with a gun who walked in and did what needed to be done.”

Additionally, Noir emphasized the need for suppressor legalization through the Hearing Protection Act, noting the potential hearing damage the child suffered due to the confined shooting space.

“Suppressors are safety tools,” he argued. “They’re not about being sneaky; they’re about protecting your ears when you have no other choice but to shoot.”

Police continue investigating, and no charges have been filed against the mother at this time.
