The owner of this French FAMAS wants over $100,000 for this low-serial-number gun. Is it worth the price?

How’d you like to own a FAMAS? Me neither. Especially when it’s going to set me back six figures. Admittedly, I don’t know much about the FAMAS other than that it is a French-made bullpup rifle that has been in service with the French military since the late 1970s. Known for its distinctive appearance, the FAMAS has become a popular collector’s item, perhaps in no small part to Ian McCollum’s alacrity for the gun. However, imported FAMAS rifles can be quite expensive, such as the low-serial FAMAS F1 currently up for auction on GunBroker.com for a starting bid of $106,999.99.

The FAMAS in question, image taken from the listing.

The FAMAS F1 is the original variant of the FAMAS, and it features a built-in bipod and a fixed carrying handle with an integrated rear sight. The FAMAS was produced in limited quantities, and only a small number were ever sold to civilians. This rarity, combined with its unique features and historical significance, makes it highly desirable. Additionally, the FAMAS being auctioned has minimal signs of wear, no doubt adding to the value. Here’s a unique opportunity to own a piece of military history and a highly coveted collectible item. I guess. The auction is here, big spender: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/982302904
