Last year, I had the pleasure of attending a great event. The 2A Freedom Festival.
Organized by Florida gun rights advocate Kevin Sona, the event brings in a broad range of pro-gun voices, a host of vendors, and provides a great opportunity for gun rights advocates in Florida and elsewhere to congregate, get to know one another, and strategize. Last year, there was also a great opportunity to help people out beyond defending gun rights.
Well, it’s back, and it’s a great chance for anyone who can make it to come and see something we need to see more of throughout the nation.
Taking place on February 22, 2025, at Runaway Campers in Summerville, Florida–which is just outside Ocala–the event features a lot of interesting speakers and attendees.
Among them are Gun Owner of America’s Erich Pratt, YouTuber Jared Yanis, Florida Carry General Council Eric Friday, Arms Room Radio host Mike Piwowarski, Eye on the Target Radio host Amanda Suffecool, 2A News owner Craig DeLuz, author Dan Woz, and No Lawyers – Only Guns & Money writer John Richardson.
Oh, and some guy who writes for a place called Bearing Arms named Tom Knighton.
There will be multiple panels including one on Second Amendment media, a diversity panel–and yes, it matters considering the way we’re often portrayed in the media–a Second Amendment group panel, and others.
Look, I happen to believe that part of the reason we have so much hostility toward gun shows and the reason so many lawmakers want to shut them down is that it allows Second Amendment advocates to congregate and engage in some fellowship with those who are of a like mind.
This is something they can’t shut down.
First, it’s Florida, and while they’re not as pro-gun as some people like to think, they’re not remotely in the camp that would even consider trying to shut down gun shows.
However, this is also not a gun show. I won’t say there won’t be any gun companies present–there was at least one there last year–but that’s not the purpose of what will be happening.
Instead, this is a gathering protected by the First Amendment, but one that isn’t focused on a particular bill or law. This is an opportunity for people to get together and discuss our right to keep and bear arms.
It’s something that cannot be undermined by anti-gun politicians without making it very clear how little they value any of our rights. They can’t even pretend this is a place where gun deals are going down, where there’s any “gun show loophole” or the like, none of it.
This is a place where we can network and prepare to do battle with those who would strip us of our rights.
I’d like to invite you to join us.
There are hotels and Airbnb and the like nearby, and this is being held at a campground. Camping is available at the event link above.
If you come out, come and let me know that you saw it here. I look forward to meeting any of you who can make it to this incredibly fun event.
