YETI is coming out of winter and into spring 2025 swinging with a brand-new day pack. Launching on March 4, the Ranchero Backpack is aimed at day-to-day users — city commuters, students, and travelers. It’s got the classic YETI rough-and-tumble design with a little bit of Mystery Ranch flavor.

The new daypack comes in two sizes and colors. It’s made with durable TuffSkin nylon and has a slick pull-to-open RipZip design. Both the Ranchero 22L and the 27L backpacks have internal pockets and two stretch-woven external water bottle holders (big enough to hold your 32-ounce tumbler).

The back panels are molded for carry comfort. YETI’s Ground Control Base also means the pack stays upright when you set it down.

The pack also allows you to lash things to the outside with removable external compression straps. When you need a luggage belt, both the 22L and the 27L feature a stowable one.

The only real difference between the two packs (besides their 5L volume difference) is the laptop sleeve, which is internal on the Ranchero 22L, and external on the 27L backpack.

The Ranchero looks fit for day hikes, bike rides to work, or general everyday use.

YETI Ranchero Backpacks Join YETI Family

In 2024, YETI purchased Mystery Ranch. It promised customers that it wouldn’t phase out the backpack and luggage brand, although it acknowledged that it would sell YETI-branded bags “inspired” by Mystery Ranch designs.

If the Ranchero backpack looks familiar to you, that’s probably why. Mystery Ranch’s Catalyst series of daypacks feature a similar RipZip design to both the new Ranchero and the older Bozeman Backpack. Even the names of these YETI packs seem like subtle nods to the Montana-born brand.

On March 4, the Ranchero packs will join YETI’s daypack collection alongside the Crossroads Backpack (22, 27, 35 L) and the aforementioned Bozeman (27 L). You can also shop through YETI’s extensive other backpack and luggage offerings on the brand’s “bags” webpage.
