Has there ever been a better time to enjoy outdoor gear? This week’s selection of cool new stuff represents the twin poles of the industry’s values: futuristic innovation and sustainable production.

It’s hard to imagine another moment in time when we could window shop between inflatable mattresses made with sustainable materials, race-winning bike tires constructed from natural rubber, or mountain bike apparel using recycled fabrics. Find your next favorite thing right here in Emerging Gear.

Infinite Machine P1 Scooter

Is that a Tesla or a Vespa? This futuristic machine isn’t either. It’s the launch of Infinite Machine’s P1 Scooter, a modern EV inspired by Italy’s iconic Vespa.

This Brooklyn-based company developed the P1 to offer a sustainable alternative for urban transportation. I have no doubt this sci-fi scooter will also turn heads wherever you take it. Although pricing details aren’t available yet, you can reserve one of these slick new rides starting July 9 through the Infinite Machine website.

Delivery is expected in early 2025.

Suunto Race S

Suunto has unveiled the Suunto Race S, a compact version of its Suunto Race sports watch.

The new Suunto Race S offers a 1.32” AMOLED display and a digital crown for navigating features and maps. It includes free offline outdoor maps, advanced training metrics, daily activity tracking, and wireless software updates. Made with Gorilla Glass and stainless steel, the watch offers 95+ sport modes and customizable options.

Also, the emissions from the production of the Suunto Race S are offset through a Tree-Nation reforestation project, the brand said. Pricing will be announced soon.

Patagonia MTB Collection

Patagonia has updated its Mountain Biking line for the warmer months. The collection includes the Dirt Craft Shorts and Dirt Craft Jersey, both made from recycled materials and manufactured in Fair Trade Certified factories.

The Dirt Craft Bike Shorts, priced at $200, aim for all-terrain versatility and use an 82% recycled polyester blend with four-way stretch and a removable padded liner with mesh panels. The shorts also offer multiple pockets and an adjustable waist, and are available for women as well.

The Dirt Craft Jersey, available for $100, combines Airshed fabric on high-wear areas with cool material for moisture-wicking. It accommodates low-profile elbow pads and includes stretch panels and secure cuffs. Find the women’s model here.

Nike x Hyperice

Another product that looks like something out of science fiction, this wearable tech aims for top-notch recovery for athletes. Hyperice, known for creating high-tech wearables for athlete warmup and recovery, has teamed up with Nike to offer a pair of boots and a vest to help athletes preparing for competition.

The Nike x Hyperice boot is a mobile high-top shoe that provides heat and dynamic air compression massage for feet and ankles. Equipped with dual-air Normatec bladders and warming elements, the boots ensure even heat distribution to aid in faster recovery. Athletes can adjust heat and compression levels via a battery pack in the shoe’s insole.

The Nike x Hyperice vest uses thermoelectric coolers for instant heating and cooling, eliminating the need for ice or liquid. The vest’s sensors autonomously regulate body temperature, while an air bladder ensures comfort by pressing thermal modules inward.

Merrell x Grayson Agility Peak 5 Zero

Did you know that walking 18 holes of golf adds up to about 5 miles? That’s apparently part of the justification for this interesting collab.

Greyson and Merrell, both Michigan-based brands, have partnered to introduce the Men’s Agility Peak 5 Zero, a versatile shoe designed for both trail running and golf. Priced at $250, these shoes have GORE-TEX waterproofing to keep feet dry in any weather and a Vibram MegaGrip outsole for traction on varied terrain.

The Agility Peak 5 Zero offers supportive, lightweight, and breathable comfort, making it suitable for both outdoor activities and the golf course, the brands said.

Pirelli P Zero Race RLR RS

Pirelli just launched the P Zero Race TLR RS, the world’s first bicycle tire to use FSC-certified natural rubber. This certification, granted by the Forest Stewardship Council, ensures that the rubber is sourced from responsibly managed plantations that support biodiversity and local communities.

Produced at Pirelli’s Milan-Bollate plant, the tire marks the beginning of a new product range. The World Tour team Lidl-Trek is using the P Zero Race TLR RS in professional races, and the tire is now available for purchase from global retailers, the brand said.

The P Zero Race TLR RS is priced at $100.

Glerups Langdal

Danish brand Glerups has dropped its first lace shoe, the Langdal — and they look pretty sweet. Priced at $250, this is a great shoe for anyone interested in sustainably made kicks that avoid materials you can’t pronounce.

They have uppers made from 100% pure wool and soft chrome-free leather, as well as organic cotton laces and a natural rubber outsole. As part of Glerups’ Project Zero Waste Initiative, the insoles and midsoles incorporate coconut, a byproduct of the food industry.

Available in six colors — charcoal, grey, brown, cream, light green, and rose — the charcoal and brown versions also come with various outsole color options. The Langdal has men’s and women’s models, and can be worn with or without socks.

Tailwind Nutrition Blueberry Lemonade

Tailwind Nutrition has introduced a new limited edition flavor, Blueberry Lemonade Endurance Fuel. This summer refresher is inspired by the cycling community and developed in partnership with The Feed.

Tailwind’s Endurance Fuel is a sports nutrition drink mix that combines calories, electrolytes, and hydration, eliminating the need for gels, chews, bars, or salt pills. Each serving contains 50g of carbohydrates, 620mg of sodium, plus calcium, potassium, and magnesium. It mixes clear with water and is designed to be gentle on the stomach during training and racing.

The Blueberry Lemonade flavor, offering a bright and refreshing taste, is available in four-serving stick packs for $10.

EXPED LUXE Line

EXPED has launched its new LUXE line of all-natural sleeping mats, blankets, and pillows.

The LuxeMat ($350) and LuxeMat Duo ($500), made from natural fibers, feature RWS-certified wool insulation and organic cotton tricot fabric with four-way stretch, providing 4 inches of vertical thickness for edge-to-edge comfort. The LuxeMat’s side zippers allow for gap-free coupling, transforming single mats into a double bed or couch.

The LuxeWool Blanket ($150), available in two sizes, is crafted from moisture-regulating wool and organic cotton fabrics. It has a cloak clip and can be worn as a blanket around camp. The LuxeWool Pillow ($50) combines organic cotton tricot covers with wool insulation and upcycled foam filling.

adidas DUNAMIS

Adidas has launched DUNAMIS, its signature 2024 sunglasses, set to be worn by over 100 athletes at the Olympic Summer Games, the brand said.

Weighing 27 g, DUNAMIS is one of adidas’ lightest sunglasses. It has a thermo-molded lens with a proprietary spoiler shape designed to maximize airflow and aerodynamics.

DUNAMIS is available in specialty optical stores and will soon be available on adidas.com, the company said. The sunglasses cost $225.
