Wilson Combat have announced the start of a new line of firearms in Division 77. Division 77 firearms will be released in limited quantities, with each launch highlighting different design aspects and technologies Wilson Combat want to showcase.

Project 1 is the flagship for Division 77; a double-stack 1911-style handgun chambered in 9mm. The first of the Project 1 new features is an optic pin system which allows seamless transitions between RMR, RMSC, and DeltaPoint Pro footprints. It also sports an increased rear slide width, along with a relocation of the optic to the rear of the slide for unobstructed chamber access, ideal for SROs and longer red dots. A precision cut ported slide is fit to an integrated compensated barrel. Project 1 will ship with the cover plate removed, requiring only the installation of the correct optic pin set that matches the footprint of the desired optic to be mounted.

Also featured is a new cover plate with dovetail  rear sight and integrated firing pin stop. This new design allows for a stronger iron sight platform that allows the user to transition from optics to iron sights without having to re-zero or drift the rear sight.

Wilson Combat notes that the Project 1 also uses their Advanced “RPG” Guide Rod. This allows the use of a longer one-piece guide rod which enhances reliability and ease of use. The reduced diameter allows the guide rod to tilt out of the slide assembly for easy removal and installation, allowing removal of the guide rod without removing the reverse plug.

Rounding off the list of new features is a new 18-round base pad, with machined grooves on both sides of the extended pad to facilitate faster mag changes, and gives the shooter a solid point of contact for removing the magazine during high stress situations, training and competition settings.

Project 1 comes standard with an integrated magwell, flat trigger, a PVD coated barrel and slide parts for enhanced durability and Trak pattern front and back strap as well as user changeable Trak pattern grip panels.

Intensive data collection has been performed by Wilson Combat on Project 1’s recoil, as their new Dynamic Recoil Analysis System provides an extensive breakdown of how their handgun performs while firing. Details and graphics that break down these tests are available on the Project 77 home page.
