NY Dems Push Orwellian Ammo Tracking

Gov. Kathy Hochul just inked her name on S745/A439, a bill that hands the state government a blank check to spy on law-abiding gun owners—under the guise of public safety.

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) is sounding the alarm, and rightly so.

Hochul’s administration will be tracking gun and ammo purchases via credit card codes.

The new law mandates unique merchant category codes for firearm and ammo purchases made with credit cards, essentially turning every trip to the gun shop into a flagged event.

Hochul claims this will help law enforcement detect potential threats—but Alan Gottlieb of the CCRKBA isn’t buying it.

“This gives law enforcement the opportunity to find out exactly who may be stockpiling ammunition,” Hochul said, raising eyebrows across the nation.

To which Gottlieb fired back:

“This is 2025, not 1984. Big Brother should not be watching anybody.”

This scheme presumes that every lawful gun owner is a potential threat, tossing Fourth Amendment protections in the trash.

In classic anti-gun fashion, the logic behind the law is laughably flawed. It assumes that criminals are swiping Visa cards to arm up. That’s not just naive—it’s dangerous.

“The irony here is stunning,” Gottlieb continued. “Democrats are constantly harping about things they say are a threat to democracy. Shredding the Constitution is the ultimate attack on our democracy.

This isn’t about safety—it’s about control. Gun owners in New York are being treated like suspects, their purchases tracked, their rights under siege.

And as Gottlieb warned, the question now is—what right do they erode next?

If Hochul’s goal was to drive more gun and ammo transactions underground and inflame tensions with the 2A community, mission accomplished.
