Harris Owns Same Brand of Gun White House Has Been Going After

Vice President Kamala Harris has been trying to leverage her status as a gun owner to somehow put our minds at ease. After all, as a gun owner, she wouldn’t try to ban anyone’s guns, now would she?

However, there were always questions about her gun ownership. A lot of people don’t think she actually owns one. I’m inclined to accept that she does, but I also think it doesn’t much matter because all indications are that she is a “rules for thee but not for me” kind of person.

And her interview with 60 Minutes didn’t do much to make me feel differently.

From The Reload:

The Democratic Presidential Nominee owns one of the most popular handguns in America.

On Monday, Vice President Kamala Harris revealed what kind of pistol she owns. While she first publicly said she owned a handgun during her first campaign for president in 2019, she and her campaign had not said what kind of gun until now. In an interview with Bill Whitaker of 60 Minutes, Harris said her gun is a Glock.

“I have a Glock, and– I’ve had it for quite some time,” Harris said. “And– I mean, look, Bill, my background is in law enforcement. And– so there you go.”

When asked, she also said she had fired her gun.

“Yes. (laugh) Of course, I have,” Harris said. “At a shooting range. Yes, of course, I have.”

Now, The Reload’s Founder Stephen Gutowski has questions that remain unanswered, and those are solid questions. Cam delved deeper into the interview as well.

However, for me, the big thing here is that she says she owns a Glock. No one knows what model, and even if she showed us, unless we had a high-resolution image of it from just the right perspective, all we could do is narrow down the options–Glock isn’t known for straying from what works for them, after all–but she says she owns a Glock.

Which, it should be remembered, is probably the most popular handgun brand in the country. It’s also an “unsafe” firearm, according to California law.

It’s also the company that the Office of Gun Violence Prevention–an office she oversees in her duties as vice president–has reportedly been going after.

Last week, Cam wrote about a subpoena from the House looking into just how much involvement the office has had in a lawsuit targeting Glock, trying to hold them responsible for the illegal actions of others, arguing that they failed to redesign their guns so a third-party designed full-auto switch won’t work on them and that makes them culpable for what gang-bangers have done.

I just find it funny that she has one of these particularly evil guns.

She could have sold it, disposed of it at a gun buyback, or a host of other things and purchased something more in line with her own beliefs, but she held onto the Glock, even as she tried to make sure no one else would be able to buy the same kind of firearm, at least in its current configuration.

Then again, as I said, she’s always struck me as a “rules for thee but not for me” kind of person. This isn’t exactly convincing anyone of anything different. Considering her history on gun control and support for every bit of California’s anti-gun legislation, there’s a lot of reason to not be reassured by her claims of being a gun owner.

This is just one more.
