Garmin has just introduced the inReach Messenger Plus, its latest two-way satellite communicator. The device takes communication beyond cell service by adding photo and voice messaging to its existing text and SOS capabilities.

Built for explorers, the inReach Messenger Plus offers reliable communication on land, in the air, or at sea, with a battery life that can last for weeks!

Stay Connected, Even Off the Grid

The inReach Messenger Plus allows users to send texts, photos, and voice messages no matter where they are.

“The new and enhanced messaging capabilities of the inReach Messenger Plus gives users a more personal and emotional way to communicate with friends and family when cell service isn’t available,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales.

“Tell your family you’ll be home late, send a photo of the epic view to your friends or simply exchange voice messages to hear the person on the other end of the line,” Bartel added.

When paired with the Garmin Messenger app, the device switches seamlessly between Wi-Fi, cellular, or satellite service.

Whether you’re sending a group text, sharing your location, or showing off a photo of the view from a mountaintop, the inReach Messenger Plus ensures you stay connected.

You can also send voice messages, allowing for more personal communication than a simple text.

SOS and Emergency Support

In the event of an emergency, the inReach Messenger Plus can send an interactive SOS message to Garmin’s 24/7 response center.

You can share photos and voice messages with emergency responders, providing critical details about the situation.

Garmin’s technology has already helped save lives, with over 14,500 SOS activations to date.

Durable and Built to Last

Garmin designed the inReach Messenger Plus to withstand the toughest environments. It’s water-resistant, temperature-resistant, and compact enough to fit in your hand.

The device’s battery life, which can last up to 600 hours in low-power mode, offers peace of mind for adventurers who need reliable communication over long periods.

Plus, the inReach Messenger Plus can charge a depleted smartphone, so you’re never completely cut off.

Features at A Glance:

  • Photo sharing: Show your adventures by sending a selfie from the summit or a photo of your view of the sunset.
  • Voice messages: When a text isn’t enough, use your voice to check in to tell friends and family they’re missed or reassure them that you’re safe by exchanging 30-second voice messages.
  • Two-way group text messaging: Send text messages with up to 1,600 characters individually on the device, or use the Garmin Messenger app to exchange text messages, send emojis, react to messages or start a group chat.
  • Interactive SOS: Explore with peace of mind knowing that in case of an emergency, an interactive SOS message can be triggered. Once an SOS is activated, text, photo and voice messages can be exchanged with response coordinators, who will provide updates on the status of the response effort.
  • Route sharing: Share your GPS location and route anytime with live tracking. GPS coordinates can also be embedded into a text, photo or voice message.
  • Off-grid navigation: Plan the trip, see the track, save an activity and view a course highlight showing the remaining distance to your destination when paired with the Garmin ExploreTM app on compatible smartphone.
  • Check the weather: Get weather reports and forecasts for your location or destination delivered directly to the device or to the Garmin Messenger app.

Pricing and Availability

The inReach Messenger Plus is available now for $499.99, with subscription plans starting at $14.99 per month.

With its rugged design, extended battery life, and ability to stay connected beyond cell service, the inReach Messenger Plus is a nice little tool for anyone venturing into the great outdoors.
