On July 13th, 2024, the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. The would-be assassin, armed with an AR-style rifle, fired several shots from a nearby rooftop.

One bullet grazed Trump’s right ear! But the Secret Service promptly ended the threat with a precise shot!

While the attempt failed, it ignited a storm of conspiracy theories online. Some speculated the event was staged, and others debated the ballistics involved.

Enter Brandon Herrera, a popular YouTuber known as “The AK Guy,” who decided to tackle these theories head-on.

Herrera, who has built a following by blending technical gun knowledge with a heavy dose of humor and high-energy content, saw this as an opportunity to set the record straight—and have a little fun while doing it.

Herrera’s latest video (see below), “Testing The Assassination Attempt of Donald Trump” does what he does best: breaks down complex subjects with a mix of sarcasm, hands-on demonstrations, and a touch of irreverence.

He starts by debunking the idea that the shot was staged. Using a budget AR similar to the one reportedly used by the shooter, Herrera shows just how difficult—if not impossible—it would have been to intentionally graze Trump’s ear from 130 yards out.

Next, Herrera tackles the “experts” who claim that a shot from an AR-15 to the ear would have been fatal. To counter this, he and his team recreate the shot using a ballistic dummy, complete with high-speed cameras capturing every detail.

The result?

A fascinating, if slightly gruesome, demonstration of what actually happens when a bullet grazes an ear. Definitely worth a a watch.

For the finale, Herrera indulges his cinematic flair by recreating the Secret Service’s return shot on the shooter.

Using a high-end Accuracy International rifle, he captures the moment in ultra-slow motion, providing a satisfying end to the dramatic sequence.

“We have a constitutional republic, a representative democracy, where we’re allowed to express our differences and decide together as a country at the ballot box exactly what direction we want this country to go in,” he said.

“That’s the proper way to go about it, and if you think the alternative of taking innocent life is acceptable or that’s the thing you should do… well, that’s your fate,” he said, referencing the obliterated head of the dummy “shooter.”

As always, Herrera’s commentary is full of jokes and off-the-cuff remarks, keeping the tone light even as he dives into serious topics.

This video has over 7 million views. Worth a watch, and a rewatch for those of you who’ve already seen it.
