Take note of the name RXM 9mm. You will definitely be hearing more about it.

Ruger and Magpul teamed up to create the modular. While this probably isn’t a collaboration that many folks in the industry (or on the customer/buying end) might’ve expected, it’s already the catalyst for a lot of discussion.

The RXM’s description from Magpul reads, “Ruger know-how meets legendary Magpul ergonomics in a modular package that’s built to easily make it your own…” Many other posts, including Ruger’s, are in the same vein.

Here’s a video rundown.

Ruger says it’s the “…result of collaboration between Ruger and Magpul,” and that it “…sets itself apart from other striker-fired, polymer-framed pistols.”

It remains to be seen just how much it sets itself apart, but having the name Magpul in the same product description as Ruger is a good way to start.

According to the press release,

“Ruger and Magpul Industries have collaborated to introduce the RXM 9 mm pistol, which sets itself apart from its competition by offering maximum flexibility and customization via a removable stainless steel Fire Control Insert (FCI) set inside an interchangeable Magpul Enhanced Handgun Grip (EHG). As part of their ongoing collaboration, Ruger and Magpul will be offering a variety of grip frames so that consumers can customize their pistol to meet shifting tastes and needs.”

In addition to a number of Ruger-centric frame, slide and grip features, the RXM boasts a number of Magpul features, to wit:

‘The Magpul EHG offers consumers premium features, including Magpul’s ¾-scale TSP texture, which provides a comfortable, secure grip. Other EHG features include: textured indexing pads for consistent finger/thumb placement; a low-profile, flared magazine well for quick and easy magazine insertion; a trigger guard undercut and beaver tail that promote a high grip for better control; a magazine release scallop for easy access; and a universal-pattern accessory rail for use with a variety of lights and lasers.”
